Well Freddie Gray had an arrest record the length of my arm, but that doesn't mean that the police can put him unrestrained in the back of a van and put him in the tumble dry cycle.

Didn't they arrest Gray because he ran as soon as he saw the cops? That's PC right there, or at the very least RAS to initiate a contact, and his continuing to run is then PC. Not saying the rest of the state's case isn't valid, but the fact that they had to chase Gray means they definitely had PC to arrest.

They probably had RAS to detain based on Gray's mile-long rap sheet. I don't know if he was on probation or parole or if one of the cops recognized him. But his running at the sight of the cops was a guarantee they would chase and detain and then look awfully hard for a reason to arrest. I don't know the law on knife blade length in MD, but if you have a long rap sheet, run from the cops and they find so much as a Swiss Army knife on you, they're gonna try to charge you with weapon possession. As the cops say, "You may beat the rap, but you won't beat the ride." Gray definitely didn't beat the ride.

I heard an interview with a Baltimore cop that said they witnessed Freddie in the midst of a drug deal. When they approached, both thugs ran...and the cops gave chase. Requesting medical help by known thugs (yep, thugs) happens nearly 100% of the time as they know it routes them to a Med Center rather than downtown to be processed. Didn't strap him in because he was thrashing, spitting, etc., in tight confines...pretty common also. Urinalysis showed heroin and marijuana in his system presumably consumed during chase...not sure if that will ever make the MSM (if true).
Sounds like a sweet young child that should have been treated with more respect.

Manslaughter 2 is the charge.
If they get acquitted the riots will be even worse.

I heard part of the announcement today by the prosecutor. She sounded like one of the protesters/rioters when they were being interviewed. Those 6 guys are screwed.

Really? Running from a cop is PC for murder? Don't tell me, let me guess you're a constitutionalist. The knife they supposedly found cause to arrest him for wasn't even illegal.

Yeah he was a bad guy... but the police are not the judge and jury... well, they are not supposed to be.

Did any of you read the article?
The van stopped several times including a stop which was not reported but was caught on store video. "Mr. Gray started his fateful ride lying on the floor of the police van, Ms. Mosby said. A short time later, Officer Goodson “proceeded to the back of the wagon in order to observe Mr. Gray,” she said, though she did not say why. “At no point did he seek, nor did he render, any medical help for Mr. Gray,” the prosecutor said. A few blocks later, he called a dispatcher to say that he needed help checking on his prisoner. Another officer arrived, and the back of the van was opened. “Mr. Gray at that time requested help and indicated that he could not breathe,” and asked twice for a medic, Ms. Mosby said. While the officers helped him onto the bench in the back of the van, she said, they still did not belt him in. While they were there, she said, a call went out for a van to pick up and transport another person who had been arrested. “Despite Mr. Gray’s obvious and recognized need for assistance, Officer Goodson, in a grossly negligent manner,” answered that call, rather than seeking medical help, Ms. Mosby said. At the van’s next stop, Officer Goodson met the officers who made the initial arrest, and a sergeant who had arrived on the scene. Opening the van once again, they “observed Mr. Gray unresponsive on the floor of the wagon,” Ms. Mosby said. The sergeant, she said, spoke to the back of Mr. Gray’s head, but he did not respond. “She made no effort to look, or assess or determine his condition,” Ms. Mosby said. When the van finally arrived at the Western District police station and officers tried to remove him, “Mr. Gray was no longer breathing at all,” she said. A medic was summoned and found Mr. Gray in cardiac arrest. Then he was rushed to a hospital. Last edited by 69 Soft Targa; 05-01-2015 at 03:13 PM.. |

I wonder how a cop would like to be shackled by the ankles, wrists cuffed behind him, and thrown in a van with a stainless steel bench an no padding and driven around town for an hour for the "crime" of carrying a legal knife?

Is any of this verified as true? Any reliable source referenced?

Reliable source? State's attorney. Is that reliable enough? Oh yeah. There's also a stop, recorded on civilian video, that ALL of the officers failed to recall. Hmmm.
The cops are required to be above this sort of conduct. A nickle ride is BS whether the perp is a dealer who ran or not. Since when do we impose the death penalty on the street? Rick, wtf? You're the same dude who would press your right to remain silent when stopped for suspicion of DUI, but this dude "deserved it"? And take the racist crap to PARF, or for that matter off the board.

My understanding is that the information came from interviewing the officers involved.

The criminal complaint is extremely detailed and very compelling.
I think 3 of the cops charged are black. |

G'day!

Did anyone notice (at least for this case) the police are now BLUE instead of WHITE?
I wonder if that is because 3 of the accused are white....and 3 are black. The narrative shifts......while credibility plummets.....
