What a great life he lived. Saw him a few times and have worn out records, tapes and CD's of his over the years. Excellent musician and story teller.

A legend that truly deserved the status. Time for a funny story: I saw BB King play in Portland in the late 80's or so. He put on a spectacular show. After the show, only a horn player stayed around to sign autographs and mingle with the crowd. I went down to the stage and waited my turn. When the horn player looked at me, I asked him if he could walk over a few feet and pick up the BB King pick that was left on the stage. He did it but he gave me a "look!"
Mr King. Thanks for the music. As my son learns to play guitar now, a bit of you lives on. Yesterday while you were dying? He and I were trading out solos on the 12 bar blues. Larry |

RIP BB, a legend and American treasure. I saw him a few times. My first and most memorable was mid 80's while in high school. We fake IDed our way into the club and ran into my high school English teacher. She was a mid 60's black lady and the look on her face was priceless. I had a great rapport with her after that and continued to correspond with her many years after graduating. The love of the blues knows no boundries.

Loved the King. I've seen him three times over three decades. The man loved life and did a lot of good work for others.

This really bums me out. RIP BB. Frankly I was never a huge fan but I am a big lover of the blues and blues-rock more so, and BB was undeniably a foundational influence there. I've been trying to see some of these old legends while they are still with us (saw Buddy Guy a few weeks ago) but missed BB the last couple times he played our local club down the street. I was planning to make it this year for sure.

I'm a huge fan, but regretfully I saw him for the first time last September at the House of Blues....Frankly I wished I had never gone. Would have loved to see him years ago, but unfortunately the thrill has been gone for quite some time...We felt so bad, we actually left the concert, he collapsed on stage a month later... RIP Mr King......
