Neighbourhood is going downhill......

Well it seems over the last few years there are more and more rental houses in our area. One house we call trailer park trash coz they have trailers, rv's parked in their yard. There are multiple beater cars parked in front of their house.

Last Sunday Edm. Police arrived and two police arrive and point rifles or shotguns at the front of the house. At least one person is arrested. Next time I see the landlord I am going to get him to get rid of the tenants. There are a pile of them in there but I don't know what basis I can get rid of them. Any ideas? The block was not evacuated when this happened - perhaps they were deemed low risk.

IMHO GTFO!

It is only a question of time until someone breaks into your house, vandalizes your car etc. etc.

And if you sell now, you will not lose money. Once the hood is down the drain to where every house looks like the "trailer park", your values will be in the toilet and you'll be stuck being a slumlord.

Study the local civic code. Parking, occupancy, nuisances, landscaping, etc.

Most cities and towns have rules to keep fontuckians from being ............ fontuckians.

I know what you mean. My neighbourhod went seriously downhill when I moved in.

Swearing at people in the middle of the road. Fixin' old 35 year old car out on the street, dawgs barkin', chainsawing up firewood on the front lawn.

+1

A few years ago, an acquaintance of mine and her husband spent $70,000.00 to move from one quadrant of our city, to an identical house in another.

Down here we would call them Canadians. JK.

Seriously, in Ohio they are known as Briars. I don't know where that term came from. If that place was in Kentucky it could be my cousin.

It's happening.

Would you buy property to build a house near a ghetto?

Hey, why you ain't come over with a sixer to talk it over? Amirite, Bill? :-)

Same thing happened on my street. When I saw a pair of sneakers thrown over the power lines, I felt a need to clean my 12ga on the porch. Things were better when I left a couple of months ago.

Yea, I was being serious. It's unlikely things will change for the better, maybe you should become a landlord too.

No doubt the Municipality has a maximum occupancy ordinance for rental properties, CO requirements, fire inspections, etc. Call the POlice, City inspectors, code official at every opportunity. Recycling can falls over, dog barks, music to loud or past a certain time, unregistered or derelict vehicles, un-cut grass, everything. They'll leave or the landlord will make them leave because he will be the one getting the citations.
