Helga is gone but I'm hanging around...

Just sold my '74 911 (Helga)...

Helga is for sale...

I'll still hang around here and when the time is right, I may be in the market for a Cayman S. The gout prevents me from enjoying the car (heavy clutch pedal). Sad to see her go, but it's time to move on...

Thanks! It will be awhile until I actively start looking for another Porsche. At least not until my gout is under control and the kids are out of college!

I hate to hear that you sold your baby Art. You seemed to really love that car.

Yep, I loved that car but it's time to move on. I just hope the new owner enjoys it half as much as I did!

That was quick. You wanna sell my car?

Sorry it had to go, but hopefully there's something in the future that will take its place and be even better.

People always complain about how sports cars are "unsellable" these days.

That's a perfect example of how to sell one quickly. It's all about pricing. Although I think you went a little TOO overboard. That was one heck of a deal for the buyer. Hopefully he cares for the car as much as you. The last thing I need is another car (I'd like to pare down), but I gave yours some real thought.

I sold my Aston Martin DB4 of 36 years, two years ago. And I miss it. But I sold it for stupid money to the Prime Minister of Kuwait. That car got where it wasn't a toy a long time ago; it represented a significant percentage of my net worth. I could buy 25 or 30 of my Targa for what I sold it for. You'll get over it, and a Cayman S is not out of the question; besides it has better A/C. I've been in Michigan in the summer and you need A/C.

It will be awhile before I'm in the market for a Cayman S, so I'll be researching until then. With my gout pain, driving the car became difficult and I bought the car to drive it. It's going to a good home and I'll concentrate on getting this gout under control. Thanks, everyone!

I'm driving the car to my in-laws today as the weather is beautiful for the Targa! I'll be delivering the car next Saturday and the car will still be in MI until spring when the new owner will take it to Germany! Helga's going home, that's pretty cool!

And Helga will also be getting a doors off, windows out paint job back to her original beautiful color (lime green 137). Here's what she will look like again within the next 9 months....

Very excited to be inheriting Helga from Art. She is a special car hiding underneath two bad paint jobs. Art has sorted out the mechanicals. It will be my turn to bring her to the next level cosmetically. Drive her hard Art, but don't put her to bed wet

Garth,
Thanks! Helga deserves to be pampered a little! She will look great back in her original color. I'm going to take some pictures today, now that the sun is shining. I've got everything packed up, you'll have enough spare parts to build another 911!

My son, Dan and me...

Yep, it's very cool and very appropriate! I'm trying to find the picture of Helga in my neighbor's hangar with his yellow R22 helicopter. It looks like "ketchup and mustard" with the car and helicopter next to each other...

Great story, Art...I can also understand th gout thing. With me, it was sciatica that would act up on long drives...something about the position of the sports seat, it's relation to the clutch...something. My left leg would have very sharp pains shooting down it.

Another of my many reasons for selling the old 911.

Thankfully, no such problems with the Mustang. It's a 5 speed, but the seat is very comfortable, the clutch is in a different position. No sciatica bouts yet...
