1996 Mercedes SL 500 for sale.. Cheap!

This is my dad's car. He has had it for @8 years and only put @10K miles on it. I think it is at @92K miles now.. It is VERY clean and has the factory hardtop to go with it! Trust me when I say he babies it. and it is garage kept. It has been serviced regularly. Located in PHX area. I have seen these things everywhere from $4K to 15K! Looking for a quick sale so willing to let it go cheap. Offering it here before we go the CL route. Only looking to get @$6k for it, but open to offers.

Wow, wish I was in the mkt. I've always loved SLs and I think the missus would like one.

Yeah, its a great car but I have no room for it either. Definitely priced to sell.. He said that's all he needs out of it. Would rather not go through CL and the tire kicker price haggle game. Somebody come get it!

Hard to believe that car isn't worth a good bit more than $6K. Why not get a fair price for it on CL?

Looks like a decent example, (though I'd need much higher res photos to say for sure), but there is a reason those cars are so cheap. You are not simply buying a car. You are buying into a maintanencr experience.

Price the convertible top hydraulic actuators, (I think there are 13 total, some over $1k dealer list price), then check the size of your boner. It will have diminished appreciably.

Those were done last spring!

And book value is somewhere @$7K I think? But market value is all over the place.. crazy.. CarMax offered him $4,500 as a buy out without the hardtop. They didn't want the top. I have no idea why? But my dad is 82 and I'm back in ATL now. WOuld rather him not have to go the CL route if I'm not there.

I have the same 96 SL500 - but in silver with 93k miles. Maintenance can be expensive - AC replacement cost about $3k two years ago from an Indy shop - entire interior had to come out. And, I just redid brakes, rotors and front suspension (parts about $400, labor mine). I've had mine for 10 yrs. and have put about 3.5k mi on the carach year. Other than the AC , brakes and suspension - no issues. It's a very enjoyable ride

i didnt think to get any pics of the hardtop, but it is a factory Mercedes hardtop that can be installed once you put the roof down. Takes two people to put it on.

There is a good reason my 08 Camry Hybrid with 100K on the clock, leather and JBL sound system with no sun roof, and in pretty good condition, is worth a lot more, like $9K on KBB as a private sale.
