my 1.5 y/o lab baxter nugget will be going in to be neutered tomorrow early in the AM. what I was wondering was should I put the bbq sauce on his balls tonite, or in the morning?? I want him to reflect with much reverence when he considers what's occurred in the years to come. how better than a table spoon of KC Masterpiece on his berries to say see ya? im thinking it should be tonite, like desert, if I wait till morning he may not have finished the job by the time we arrive at the vet?? then how foolish do I look for having bbq sauce on my dog's coin purse?

Neutering dogs is a North American thing. It's not done in other parts of the world like it is done here. I suggest you read up on the health benefits of him keeping all his bits before you do this.

I suggest you read up on how many unwanted dogs are euthanize every day.

When we had our cat neutered we requested they leave the nuggets.

Like preservatives in food, some argue that they kill people while somehow remaining oblivious to the fact that without the preservatives a lot more people would die from food poisoning. Castrating a dog is not something I ever really want to do. But in that there are already way too many dogs born each year, than there are homes for them, I think it is the responsible, humane thing to do.

Seems a lot less drastic, same results, no potential health issues and it doesn't seem like it would be that much harder or costly to do (maybe a little more work, but they even do it on humans in 15 minutes these days).

We have two female cats and I put my foot down and said "THAT IS ENOUGH, TWO CATS ARE OUR LIMIT, NO MORE CATS!"
So we go to look at kittens...
Marshal is my cat (I demanded a boy kitty and I picked him out of the liter) then when we took him in to be neutered my wife had a sudden rush of empathy "do you think they can let him keep his doodads?"
Me: "uh, I suppose so."
I guess the price difference was marginal because my wife is extremely thrifty and Marshal came home with his nuggets intact.

the deed's been done. I went the low cost animal shelter route so I do not suspect they would leave the magic beans in the sack. this is my 3rd dog since I became self sufficient, all male labs and only have fixed the 2 most recent. my old chocolate McQueen I did it at like 2.5 y/o because I could not keep him in the yard while away at work. my 1st yellow stayed intact his entire life, and like noted above he was well looked over so he was never a father. bax nugget my current lab mix is not like the other two at all. he's very aggressive, will fight and very sketchy around people he is not familiar. I might have left him intact if not for the opportunity to mellow him some. it's suspected he has some chow in him somewhere down the line due to black freckles on his tongue... in fact he was a handful, even a minor biting of a vet tech as they tried to get him to surgery this AM. he's groggy, and pissed at me. but seems good otherwise.

to keep on topic, the topic of disgust, my vet buddy did McQueen's operation years ago and I have his nuts in a ball jar of formaldehyde to this day.. discuss...
