I like the idea of sending a UAV instead of going in person...

You’re very welcome Shaun. I bet if your searched FB in your area you’ll find someone near you. Metal builders, artists, people who grow their own food, homebrewers, etc.
If you find someone, don’t hesitate to introduce yourself and your interest in going.
I think you’ll find them very accommodating and willing to answer questions.

PM me anytime.

Good idea, thanks. Lot of artistic types around here, me included, so should be easy.

Any idea when 2020 tickets will be available? When did you guys get yours?

Would be great to meet up next one if we both get to go.

3:20 is one reason I want to go. that and the art, expression.

I was mildly interested until I saw the video. What a bunch of fruitcakes! Not for me, or any red blooded American.

Every year, my friend's group of 6 all attempt to get tickets. When I decided to go, my name was thrown in the hat for a ticket.
It's a very strict process on buying tickets.

I'll try and break it down briefly, mostly because I'll prob get some detail incorrect.

I strongly urge you to read the site. Tough thing is, there's a TON of info and pages. Can you say FAQ?

Create a Burner profile. It's free and pretty much standard stuff. That gives you a login.

As the date nears for the first auction, you must enter your payment method. I think this is every year around March.

Some time after that, the official auction date/time is published. When the date arrives, open a second window with a UTC and when the exact second arrives, click once on "buy now", and wait.

If you are successful, congrats. It sells out in literally seconds. But it can takes 10 minutes before you know if were successful.

Month or so later, there's a second auction in the same manner.

Then an OMG auction some time after that.

After that, go through STEP, Secure Ticket Exchange Program. That’s where tickets are securely sold peer to peer, and, where all our tickets came from.

The auctions were a total mess this year. Can't recall the exact reason.
Might've been only the first one.

Apparently those fruitcakes are among the smartest people some on here have ever met.

As you are the arbitrator of all that is red blooded American? Give me a break you sound like a guy that leans out your window yelling at kids to get off your lawn.

Free expression the way people want to behave, in a cooperative environment where all are there for fun, doesn't exactly sound anti-American.

Good question... If it weren't for the internet these people would have no idea it was even happening in the first place.

I am not upset.... I just think they are a bunch of weird hippies. To me it is just waste of time and money.... essentially doing a bunch of illegal drugs, dressing like a freak and spending a bunch of time building stuff with no real useful purpose (and then burning it). Opinions are like azzholes... we all have them and this is mine. ;)

If I wanted to spend more time in a hot, dusty environment, living in a tent and smelling other peoples BO I would have reenlisted in the Army.

They have parties in a huge chocolate cake?

Years ago I did date a girl that wanted to do it in a bathtub full of cherry Jello.

I get a chuckle out of people judging people participating in a judgment free event.

Rusty Heap 09-12-2019 10:15 AM

I hear they rub honey all over their bodies then roll in cedar bark dust.

Hee hee. In the wise words of Arthur Fonzarelli, “exactamundo!”

If only folks had more of a “to each their own” attitude....but actually executed that mindset.

But hey, whatevs.

Shaun @ Tru6 09-12-2019 10:42 AM

Just created a profile, thanks for that Don. Probably will look into some volunteering.

My life philosophy for the last 20 or so years has been to actively make the lives of people around me better, friends, family and strangers alike, and mostly in tiny ways (Tim has firsthand experience of this) that just create a smile and a thanks, the key being to always be on the lookout for opportunities to act, especially since small things can blossom into bigger ones. It's a gratifying way to go through life and is a little contagious.

I'm not immune to judging nor being so, but to judge the free expression of many of Man's best qualities seems really quite odd to me. I don't get it.

Tim Hancock 09-12-2019 10:46 AM

Oh puh-leeze.... We all judge others to some degree.... human nature...
