Animal cage trap. Put the cat's favorite food in there near the back.

the welding gloves are a necessity.
neck scruff mgmt. is the key, with a grumpy cat.
perhaps feeding the cat a couple of those calming treats that you may purchase in a pet store.
our cat hauler is soft and has a long zipper on the top. far easier to drop them in there, as opposed to trying to force them in the door.
our housecat is so docile that it is a non-event.

You're lucky. When my cat was alive, I had a really difficult time getting her into the carrier. But once I got her to the vet, they had to give me heavy leather gloves to get her out. A notation on the vet's records in her file was, "This cat bites!"

Box, cats dig boxes. Give em a box, wait until it climbs in. Trapped!

Just got back from a 3 pm apt,I do it solo all the time.
Cat carrier on floor, I put it up against the wall, grab cat, face cat towards you approach carrier with it behind the cat, put the cat ass end first, works great.
Good luck

I have one that will sleep in the carrier, she doesn't really care about much of anything.
I have one that depending on your mood she is either easy in or a blood letting adventure and the last one
He is a sweetheart, until he has to get in the carrier, he is solid black, he is 23lbs of muscle and short of knocking him out getting him into the carrier by yourself is not going to happen. It isn't just his teeth and claws, it is also his bruit force, you can not hold him, you can not manage both ends at once because of his size and he will make you regret trying this adventure.
He is sleeping on my lap as I type this

Shock and awe! I got her!
I let her see the cage. I was screwed. I just watched tv until she felt normal. She jumped on my chest and I grabbed her and put her in the cage hidden in the space next to the couch. One smooth motion. Circle of trust is shattered.

Downside? I'm now at the vet one hour early, and I forgot the flea meds. I'm the only male here and I have the only cat. I'm the crazy cat guy now. Fabulous.

It has been 12 hours since Vash posted. For some reason, I'm imagining this.

Probably too late now, but my cat is a rescued feral with kidney failure - she gets pills every day, sees the vet every month and hates being constrained for either. She has ripped many a shirt and even managed to break a dining room chair before I got this advice:

Take the upper half off the carrier, and put all the latches at the ready to return it fast. Grab kitty (hard) by the scruff of her neck and pick her up whilst supporting her body. Place her into the carrier and while still keeping your grip on her neck place the upper half back, only releasing her neck once your arm really is preventing you from fully closing the carrier. In double quick time fully close and latch the carrier.

My cat has a leash to go outside the minute he sees it he runs over to put it on. So instead of the cat carrier we have been taking him to the vet with the leash on. No stress on either of us.

this is super funny!! great shirt.

in the end, i am glad i took the cat in. looks like she got in a scrap with a rodent. there were two punctured toes. both infected, and getting stinky.

cleaned, pain meds, and antibiotics.

it is crazy how vet techs can man handle a cat. any cat. my cat had no moves to evade any death hold that lady had.
