Garage
I was doing attic work last summer, you have my sympathy.

The Tyvek outfit I was wearing made for a fine sweatsuit, the gloves, respirator and googles completed the misery.

You don't feel dizzy after a so much time in the heat?

Sounds like it might be unhealthy...

Nope........I've always had a high tolerance for heat. I remember when I built my 914/6 I was mig welding the fender flares outside in Orlando Florida in July !. And it was on the sunny side of the house........with a one piece mechanics suit, welding gloves and welding helmet. It's only sweat Compared to that this attic insulation is a piece of cake.

Victory is mine ! Started again at 7:00 this morning and stapled the last piece of insulation at 1:00 . I then broke down the scaffolding and returned it to Home Depot. So the " pro's " wanted 1600.00 to staple up the reflective foil and insulation that I already purchased. The one week of scaffold rental cost 117.00, add to that a bunch of T50 staples and that's it. I feel good about the savings and I know I took care to do everything right. Heat be damned . There is no doubt I can feel a major difference in the garage and I'm experimenting with the AC settings. When I'm not using the garage I'm starting with a 80 degree setting. If that is too high I'll continue to bump it down one degree at a time. I'm thinking the removal of humidity will be a great help and when I want to work in the garage I knock it down to 74 it won't take long for the mini-split to achieve that temp. I am very happy..........and glad that nasty job is done ! Now I just need to figure out a ceiling.

Awesome! Did ya know that the best way to figure out a ceiling is sitting in a boat with a fishin' rod in your hand ? Tell you wife you read it on the Internet....must be true!!!

KC911 one of my projects is a 17 ' center console. All I have left is to hook up the gauges and she's good to go. I may do that on Sunday I want to get her in the water over the 4th of July holiday if I can.

Hate to say it now But since you are putting up a ceiling anyway I would have installed the ceiling with vapour barrier/reflective layer above and then had blown in insulation put in on the top of the ceiling. Then you are only heating/cooling the garage and not the attic. I had R30 fiberglass blown in in Florida last year for $.30 a sq ft. I thought originally you were finishing /insulating the roof line to achieve a lofted ceiling effect ? ?

No sir not going for a loft look. I stapled reflective foil to the bottom of the top of the rafters, up where the roof deck is nailed to the top of the trusses. So that creates an air barrier if 3.5 " because my rafters are made of 2 x 4's . Then there is the bottom of the trusses, this is where I stapled R13 Kraft face 3.5 " fiberglass batts. I did this because it gives me an instant part time ceiling while I figure out what I actually want for the permanent ceiling. Once the permanent ceiling is in place then I will blow in fiberglass insulation to almost completely fill the space from the batt insulation to the bottom of the reflective foil. I'll end up with around R40 + which should be fine for Georgia. I just walked out to the garage it is almost 90 out right now. I have the mini-split set at 79 degrees and it feels great in there.

I also have an old 17 ft boston whaler Montauk center console boat(1986 hull) I just repainted it (someone painted it before so repaint was easier). and repowered it with a 2013 90 hp Evinrude etec.
