10050 cielo drive
The morning of August 9-69, Jay Sebring's Porsche, Folgers Firebird. A gruesome day about to unfold.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1434543217.jpg
Hope this isn't too creepy, or too close to home. Any history on the Porsche? |
So is this is test of everyone's memory or Google skills?
I guess if you lived in the area it might really mean something. For everyone else it is a trivia question. It looks like California tags but it is hard to tell for sure. It could be in almost any state from the picture. 1969 and big crime events brings up Manson and his crazies. Manson has been the poster child for the death penalty since he was convicted. How many millions of dollars have been wasted keeping him alive? Too many. |
I just thought it was an interesting picture of an interesting subject brought to mind by the recent passing of Mr Bugliosi,
also having just reread "Helter Skelter" by Bugliosi and a new longer book version of these events "Manson" by Jeff Quinn |

Yay! Porsche content in a hideous mass murder!
|
Vincent Bugliosi just died last week. (Edit: I see that was already mentioned above.)
They were there to kill the previous occupant Terry Melcher but found Tate and company instead. They walked right in. This is one reason everyone has guns now and locks their doors. |
This is not about a computer storage device, is it?
|
I'm not superstitious but holy hell there's no way I would have lived in that home after the massacre. Doubt I would have built new on it either.

And Jay Sebring changed his name in honor of the race track.
"...he changed his name to Jay Sebring: Jay, after the first initial of his middle name, and Sebring after the famous Florida car race." No wonder he drove a 911. |

*So I've been told (countless times) by a college acquaintance whose uncle worked for Solar productions back in the day. |

Now I'm off to find Porsche content RE: the Donner party. |

As for the 911, it doesn't get any lamer than a '68 911L Sportomatic but hey, it's a Porsche. :) |
Also, I worked on a major remodel/flip on Cielo Dr. in about 1989 and the house was still there. It was torn down sometime not long after and a new ugly BH mega pad went in with a slightly revised address. Like 10060 instead of 10050 or something. So the old address no longer exists. This is a not uncommon thing in LA RE when an unfortunate address might hamper a sale; Reagan's retirement home on St. Cloud Dr. in Bel Air was changed from 666 to 668 when they bought it as a condition of the sale.

One night I was kicking back reading a book from the bookshelf about a family that was murdered in their cabin back in the summer of 1968. Gruesome stuff as the killer(s) closed up the cabin and turned the heat on to let the remains roast in summer heat for a solid month. After some google sleuthing, it turns out the scene of the crime was the vacant parcel of land right next door to us! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robison_family_murders Suddenly I lost the desire to find out if the parcel was available for purchase... |
The Pontiac Firebird with a 400 incher and Torque Thrust wheels isn't no slouch either!
