According to tests created by humans we are smarter. A dolphin or whale might take issue with said tests, and point out how effective humans have been at destroying the planet.

Apples & oranges. I think we might not do so well with intelligence tests designed by whales, dolphins, or octopi. We should appreciate the fact they solve their own problems in their own environment. Lots of animals can use items in their environments to their advantage, which is what we do.

Guys ... Seriously? A chimp uses a twig to root out a termite to eat. An octopus uses a coconut shell for shelter...humans have left the planet, opened up atoms, established near artificial life, extended our ability to solve complex problems a thousand fold and your saying some coconut sushi is as smart as humans?

There is nothing in the animal kingdom that even rivals the complexity of the human. No other animal has been able to manipulate their reality, extend their lifespan or develop a means to physically do anything better then any other animal. Fly, swim, burrow, run...humans have figured out how to out do any animal.

It's not even close. Animals (any) ha e limited function - like a hammer or wrench. Only so much you can do with the tools in hand. Humans are like an advanced multi-tool that comes complete with a power source and a medicine cabinet.
