The Apple of .....
.....my eye? NOT!!
I bought my first computer in 1999. My last one semi-puked a week or 2 ago. Shopped for a new one but my wife & son convinced me to buy an Apple jobbie. It cost me almost 3 times more that an HP with Windows.....and a big waste of time trying to figure out how to use it. I'd stick with it IF I could download my old picture editing program.....but hell no !!!!! Doan work on a Mac. I need to get away from this POS & go back to Windows. |
I bought my first computer in 1979.....
I regularly work on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. They all have their idiosyncrasies but none of them are a POS. When I work on a computer for personal stuff, I prefer to use the Mac. I have to use Windows to run the AIM software for my lap timer/data logger. I bought my personal Mac way back in 2008 and it is still powerful enough today to do what I want. It runs the latest version of Mac OS and will run the next version too. Except for some third-party RAM that failed (lifetime warranty), the computer has been flawless. Yes, it cost more than Windows-based systems of 2008. But, the user experience, quality, and resale value make the investment worth it. If you don't like change, don't change. But don't call something a POS that you really know nothing about. |
I have mostly Macs in the house, a bunch of Windows boxes and a fair share of Linux.
My kids switch between the 3 and barely notice a difference. For them it's like getting driven around in the Tahoe / Mazda or Porsche, it's simultaneously the same thing but different. Not everyone has an easy time adjusting to a different OS and it's not the OS's fault that you are stuck in time. If you really can't make the switch then toss Windows on the new Apple hardware and get on with life. |
Feel the same way about my pc laptop my work gave me. Wish it had anywhere near the performance and ease of use as my 2008 iMac. Just popped in a 6gb ram upgrade and it's like new. I went through the cycle of buying nice, expensive pcs every 2 years and got tired of the crashes and poor performance. Going on 7 years now, it's great. Comfortable on either platform but like my Mac better. I don't want to be a programmer, just want together my work done

Yeah I agree it's definitely the computer's fault.
If you feel happy with the Windows stuff then by all means get a new one of those and full speed ahead!! |
Just give it time!!! I to was a windows follower but my kids bought me a mac book after me buying new laptops every 2 years. Takes time but in the end you will covert. There great systems and they last. I'm 4 years in and everything is apple. There are ways to convert your pictures ask your kids to show you or go to an Apple Store and ask the techs.

Macs are an order of magnitude better. If your used to PCs you will ha e a learning curve with a Mac for sure. I bought a MacPro and I wish I could do all my company stuff on it. Even all our IT guys have Macs for personal use. Corp had a deal with hp which IMO is stupid.
The more you use it the more you will like it. Much more powerful, nimble, reliable then a PC. Trust me. |

so put a W7 , XP , or whatever MS program on the damm mac
then all your programs will work called a dual boot system |
Gotta agree - once you try Mac you'll never go back. :)

You are supposed to drink the kool-aid, wait a half hour for it to take effect, and THEN turn on the puter. Too late now, all they can do is silence you to keep you from infecting others. |
To me, a computer is a tool, not an avocation.
Tools are (or should be) intuitive, IMO, Apple sure as hell is not. I'm almost sure the working instructions are in here somewhere....God knows where. I'm also sure any instructions are written in computerese and I haven't had that class. Steve Jobs was probably brilliant, but I ain't. I fumble around with learning until I get frustrated with it and move along a different path, if I can, and the need to know is important enough. Windows got it closer to right......the market has spoken, eh? Windows is much more intuitive and there are fewer roadblocks. I've only a few years left....not enough to waste time on Apple's tool. |

You deserve Windows so please stick with it! If I had to choose just one OS, it would not be Windows! |
Didn't Gates, steal his Op Sys from Apple?

Please read this 5 times. On whatever computer you like. Because it's the truth! Use what makes you comfortable. |
I miss my Moto Flip Phone...damn iPhone!

What ever. I'm back with Windows. It took me about 10-15 minutes set up time, box to typing. Getting all the data I could use off the old box will take some doing.
