Meet Breeze
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1435698920.jpg
Breeze is a 9 month old Brittany Spaniel. She was born to a breeder and has a heart condition. At 9 months she is 12 inches high and weighs 15 pounds. The vet estimates that she may live a year, maybe more if she doesn't grow anymore and stress her heart further. My daughter in law is active in the local Pit Bull rescue, but gets called for all kinds of dogs. Breeze's owner was going to have her put down because of her health issues, but my DIL, God bless her, took Breeze in and will keep her as long as she lives unless someone REALLY wants to adopt her. There are some special people in the world, and my daughter in law is one of them. It is heartbreaking to know this sweet, loving little dog has such a short life expectancy. Between DIL, my wife, and I we are committed to making sure her time here is as happy and filled with love as we can make it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1435699288.jpg |
While on the subject, in a thread from a few months ago http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/827346-i-have-failed.html I sent a dog back to my DIL because he was tearing up the house while I was at work. She took him back, kept him, worked with him tirelessly, and he is now a relatively sane and incredibly beautiful dog. There were bumps along the road. He ATE his way out of a wire dog crate, but she didn't give up on him. My DIL is a genius at knowing what difficult dogs need and giving it to them.

Your DIL is a VERY special person, Patrick.
Thanks for sharing and please give Breeze a belly rub (or six) from the girls. |
Breeze went for a checkup Friday. The vet says she may live six months to a year. She has put on 5 pounds and that's about as much as her heart can take. DIL usually fosters a dog until it is healthy enough to be adopted, but we're keeping Breeze. She comes to the office every day and is loved on by all the employees. She is the sweetest dog ever. It breaks my heart to know she won't be around long.

Thanks for the update Patrick.
My heart broke just reading your post. Keep up the good work, as tough as it is. Maybe a miracle will happen....fingers crossed! |
She's a real cutie. Good luck to little Breeze. I hope she proves the Vets wrong by living a very long life.
