Anyone seen the new Terminator movie yet?

I know it just came out but I also know some of you can't resist the opening day lines.

I'm not expecting Shakespeare but curious how Arnold is holding up.

No spoilers please just want to know, good, bad, or indifferent?

I will probably end up renting it.

TIA

I worked on Terminator 2 and the last one with Christian Bale, Terminator Salvation (in New Mexico). Nothing can surpass T2, nothing. That is on my all time fave flick list.

Yep, with the new movie coming out they have been playing T2 on TV.

T2 is a great flick... wonder how this new one stacks up... reviews say it is just a remake... but then if Rocky and Jurassic park can do it (plagiarize themselves) why not Terminator?

BTW, the ending of T2 was filmed at the old steel plant in Fontana before they boxed it up and shipped it to China. The steelworker who shouts "Let's get the Hell out of here!" when the terminator is in the molten steel is the prop master on the film (my boss) Chuck Stewart.

Don't think I didn't use that line on him a few times at the end of the day on other films we worked together on.

There's a scene in the trailer where old Arnold goes "I'll be back" then launches himself as a missile at a helicopter.

I think I'll pass.

If "I'll be back" is the only retread in the new movie I will be severely disappointed!

Lets be honesty all the terminator (and Jurassic park... and... and...) movies are nothing more than a escape from reality for a little over an hour, nothing more.

Wife & I saw it on the first in the morning. I'm not going to be seeing any more Terminators. The action was good, special effects good, and at the end they sort of alluded to another Terminator later on. But in my opinion, that series is getting too long in the tooth. I did enjoy seeing Arnold, although it was by far not one of his finest. The wife, to my surprise, liked it a lot. If she wants to see any more, she'll have to go alone or with her girlfriends.

The effects and CGI are good enough that you can't tell (too much) where Arnold was really in the film and where the body doubles took over.

I thought it was OK - some references to past movies, but the plot a bit convoluted (especially with all the time-line stuff). I'll intentionally mix some genre's here to say "I hate it when my movies get all time-wimey.".

Uncle Bob would not approve of your callous commentary.

I'll wait for this one to come to video. I did like the one with Claire Danes, I think it was #3.

Hmm, I didn't think LH was very hot, so that's saying something. But then I guess your buddy thought that she was hot.

I guess you are too young to remember the Terminator original movie when she had some meat on her bones.

Why the eff they made her "rip" herself in the second movie is beyond me.

I woulda poked version one. I mean, you know, given the opportunity.

I felt it had tremendous potential for crap with Arnold in there and some of the previews I saw....
I saw it lastnight and was pleasantly surprised. It was good. Like scifi time travel mind benders and it did a little of that but not crazy.
It made me glad I saw it 3d imax cause it was worth that expense.
Not as thrilling as madmax but it was good.

I just saw it with my son... Good movie and a fitting addition to the series.

The time travel stuff, as always brings up some interesting questions.
