Something themed around the number five?
..course meals, dozen roses, jeweled trinket, promissory gifts of nights out rituals and/or obligations, etc.

My wife had our wedding rings engraved with a poignant line from our vows. She had it done under the pretense of getting the stones checked out and then fixing something. Maybe do that and spring for an anniversary band to go with it?

Somewhere within driving distance, less than one hour. Find a sitter.

Most women want something heartfelt and unique, not flowers or jewelry. Drive into the countryside and have a private, romantic picnic, and write her a poem.

This!
We eat at the restaurant where we had our first date every anniversary. It is a nice place and great food. We go with just the two of us and no guests. Quote:
The number theme thing is OK on the first few anniversaries but soon becomes ridiculous. You will run out of ideas quickly. We have been married 23 years. My parents made it to over 50 years until death do they part. My dad used to tease my mom that after 50 years of anniversary, valentines, birthday & Christmas gifts he had given her everything and she always said all he really gave her was a hard time. ![]()

I have to commend you guys that remember where you went on your first date. I don't remember where I took my gf on our first date and I don't even know when we first went out. It is a good thing my gf doesn't bust my balls over that. I do remember we used to go to Starbucks a lot. lol

It was like in the movies, fireworks going off, music playing in my head and stars in my eyes.
Well actually it was a good first date at a place I went to a lot before that date. It was and still is my "go to" favorite restaurant. That helps a lot. ![]()

Ron,
While the folks posting here have some great suggestions, ultimately, the best anniversary gift will be the one you come up with by yourself. The suggestions here are great - but it's kinda like giving someone a hallmark card with a touching message on it - great message, but not very personal, even if you underline the important stuff and put smilies all over the card! One of the most cherished gifts I ever gave Mrs. Z was a cuckcoo clock from the Black forest. She loves it as much today as she did 15 years ago when I gave it to her! Some of her fondest memories as a child was spending the summer at her Nana's house, where she had a collection of grandfather clocks and cuckoo clocks. So my gift struck a chord with her - because of her childhood, and because I paid attention to her when she was related stories of her childhood to me. Do I suggest getting your wife a cuckcoo clock? I don't know your wife, but I doubt she has the same connection to that timepiece as my wife does. But what I do suggest is to reflect back on the past five years and figure out what has been important to her - and build your gift around that ideal. Oh - this past week, we just celebrated 21 years of marriage. People we meet today still perceive us as newlyweds, because of the way we interact with each other... I am a lucky guy! -Z-man.

G'day!

Hey Ron,
My 2 cents....... IMHO what will make this special for her is to see that you went out of your way to create something special and unique. This has nothing to do with spending money. It does have to do with you spending time, energy, and using your heart. Let's start with a visual. Flowers are a must....but not something boring like Roses. Give her mums or daisies. Unless she has told you in the past her fav. is roses or (insert XXX here) - then get her those. Otherwise stick to mixed color traditional flowers like daisies and mums. Next is something for the taste buds. A home cooked meal by you. No matter what level your culinary skill set is at - this is something that would make a huge impression. Keep it simple - a delicious salad (include mandarin orange slices, pine nuts, or sliced Kiwi please), a tasty entree (panko fish, etc.), plus veggies (steamed broc. and/or calif. & carrots), and a baked potato. Of course you'll have to have desert...maybe Tiramisu or Cannoli. Make sure you have plenty of candles and nice dinner music (Pink Floyd works very well - keep the volume down!). You also have to make sure you look good yourself - get a dress type but loose fitting casual shirt that makes you look sexy....and maybe some jeans. Leave the shirt tail out and have a glass of wine in your hand and one for her when she arrives. Let's see what else......oh the card.......you gotta find one that is very sentimental. Not a funny one. Find one that goes into a lot of very heart felt and sincere verbage explaining how she's the only one for you and you are so very lucky to have found here and you want to grow old with her, etc etc. You'll know it when you find it. Make sure you get this right - spend some time - don't screw it up - huge importance factor. Couple more thoughts.....inside the card include a gift cert. to a local spa. Also at some point in the night try to include some slow dancing with her. Take it easy and let her do the talking - even if there's no talking. Go with the flow but make sure she knows you love her in the way you hold her. Lastly - some place by the water to take a walk after dinner would be nice. Here we have the beach. Maybe you have one too - if not maybe a lake or some kind of waterway. Find a place to sit down and hold hands or just lean against each other so you can spend some quiet time just chillin' OK - that's all I have for now - just some suggestions - you know her better than I so some of this might be appropriate or none of it but the important thing is to be creative and thoughtful and surround her senses with things that you have created just for her and just for the special evening.

Isn't five year "vacuum cleaner"?
But seriously, +1 on dinner + nice hotel... are there any relatives you can drop the kid off at and make it a weekend? If five is really "wood" maybe rent a sail boat for the day? (if she is into boats)

2. Its ordered and paid for in 1 phone call and you look like the romantic. 3. Don't smash it in her mouth this time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
