Paranoia runs deep with far too many people . I don't know how some people even conduct business.
What the heck ever happened to a face to face cash transaction. That is the only way I roll with craigslist, and I have never had any problems, with hundreds of buyers, and sellers Meet them in your driveway, dont have to let them in your house, or show them around. Keep your garage door closed, be smart. Don't be a pinhead, and blindly give out your address, situational awareness, and use your good old fashioned common senses. My partner is like this. He thinks everybody has an angle and he is always trying to figure it out to avoid being screwed. Maybe the guy just wants to by the farking car... Take his cash, give him the title, and move on to the next.. No checks, money orders, or anything other than cold hard cash for craigslist transactions. If you want to ship, and deal with that stuff, use e bay . I figure if someone is going to rob my home, they are going to rob my home. Not much you can do about it. I hate it when I want to come buy something you are selling, and wont call me, give me your #, or tell me how to get together with you to complete the transaction . I like to make contact, and then talk in person, and then I show up with a pocket full of cash, or have the potential buyer do the same If I am selling something, I make myself available. How the heck am I supposed to sell a car if I wont answer the phone, or be willing to meet ?

Being safe is being smart. We have met people in well lit parking lots to exchange cash for items. There is no reason to ever let someone in your house, and if they can't come up with the cash, find someone else.

Far more convenient for a buyer if I come towards the freeway instead of having somebody who is unfamiliar with our goofy roads try to find our house. I've had people at my house ask how they find their way out when leaving. |
