Any info on Paul Klein or Beverly Hills Car Club ???

Does anybody know anything about or have any dealings with a Paul Klein, Alex Manos or a place called Beverly Hills Car Club ???

I know they have a web site, seen that....

Just wondering if they're a legit group...

Thanks.

They are legit. I drive by their warehouse all the time on my way to my parents when the fwy is jammed up. Big building, full of some interesting cars.

I've heard they are rather shifty like that crumpled early 911 they photographed carefully to not show the damage.

I know they have many cars for sale, but buyers beware like any use car sales business. P car or no P car.

When he asked if they were "legit", he wasn't asking whether they existed. He was asking whether anyone here has had dealings with the individuals named in the OP and whether they are honest, etc.

It sounds like you have no direct knowledge of them. You do not know whether they are "legit".

With internet whiz bang websites. Actually existing with a land address is a degree of "legit" but I understand your point.

Legit? Just note that they will offer cars that are legitimate projects.

Nothing wrong with that. But assume that given the variety of conditions of cars that they will sell, pre-purchase inspections and diligence are important. I've never heard of their actual transactions being an issue. But some have been surprised at the condition of some cars for sale. That's not an issue if you make sure what you're buying.

Ok, maybe. My own answer is that I've lived in Los Angeles and been involved with cars, (including Porsches), for decades and I have no idea how legit or honest they are. From what I've seen of cars they advertise, they seem like extreme bottom-feeders. But that's what the air-cooled Porsche market has become.

They might be a little biased, but check out this link about one of BHCC's Ebay ads.

They've been the butt of jokes on a lot of old porsche sites/groups, etc.... If you want a project and are up to date on your tetanus shot... But yeah, legit business at least... Just don't buy based only on pictures, go see what you are getting... Not everyone's opinion of "restorable" is the same. I've been told they buy stuff that everyone else in the business passes on... And there is a market for that, too, nothing wrong with that if you are aware of what you are getting.

I sold a car to them. Alex was the buyer and he turned up at the arranged time. Knew what he was talking about. Clean transaction and I was happy.

I know someone who actually bought an SC from them 6 months ago. He said the dealing was pretty good, transaction was smooth. They had a few cars for him to choose from. This is what I was told, they are not a dealer who fix and polish for resale. Many of their cars are sold just like the way they purchased it. So my friend had to do some work to his SC. General sorting out type "stuff".

Ok, my bad. You do have some knowledge of them. That wasn't clear to me at first.

My brother and I have actually been to their warehouse.
They do specialize in buying 'projects' that no one else seems to want.
I would suggest, and recommend, eyeballing in person anything you might be thinking about buying from them.

Folks, THANKS !!!

As long as none of you end up hating each other, THIS is EXACTLY the feedback I was looking for.!!! Honest and VERY clear !! Exactly what makes Pelican (in my opinion) the best auto BBS I've been a part of !!

Thank you...

Now my turn to share a little more for your databases...

I woke up Sat morning and joined a bunch of my buds at the track. (Putnam Park)
One of the guys (has a '73E) says he got an email from a friend of a friend (Paul Klein) that has interest in finding an early car. He thought about it over night and decided he wasn't in the market to sell. Knowing that I have a '70E that I don't play w/ as much as I used to at home, he asks if I want to be contacted... I say ok.
I guess he's not a bad guy for it, but in the email to me, he got the names of my friends backwards, but acted like they were GOOD buds and he was on the "inside" of the group, & I know none of us know him. Anyway, he wants to buy my car. Repeatedly asks for lots of pictures, is it numbers matching, condition, early Porsches are his passion etc....

Now reality, I woke up & no thought could have been further from my mind than selling my car. Especially that car. LOTS of reasons, but #1, I love it !
But, as my smart friends say, everything's for sale....

Now I know my car is a driver, not a concours queen, but it's been in the family since '72, has cool options, I've driven Vic Elford around in it & he coached me on rain driving (how PRICELESS is THAT !!).... He wanted me to start with the $$$, so I set my Sunday morning (barraged by email) price on the high end of very clean street car, maybe low half of a good concours car. Next email said he's off to Paris, he thinks I'm priced too high, but if I'm willing to drop WAY down to $xx call the other guy at BHCC and he'll arrange the deal. Now for the record, his offer of $xx wasn't an insultingly low one, but definitely not a fair/realistic, "I'm chasing you down on Sunday morning because these cars are SO desirable" -offer... I know they want to flip it. I know they want to make money off me... -and to the right extent, I'm fine with that. Biggest thing is, at the current prices, once I sign over that title, I will NEVER see that car again.

I really don't want to sell, but he did catch me at a good time !!!

Thanks for the help !!!! We'll see what/if anything happens.
Most of my buds say-"you don't want to sell that car."

Anyone buying an early 911 for under market value in 2015 is going to be, "very efficient with payment and pickup..."

They'd probably show up with bells on and have the car on the tow truck before he got out his front door to meet them.

Offer the car here for their offering price. I bet a few Pelicans would be interested. It would even stay in the "family."

Just pulled this off their ad for a 74 911 on ebay:
Porsche 911 Targa | eBay

"Very presentable car, could use some minor cosmetics, mechanically sound."
