Haha.

I like playing the car valuation game because it's harmless and can be done from my couch. I've watched them go up and down and sideways. I tried hanging out on the Marketplace forum for a while but was sent packing by the pricks over there at the time. Made PARF look like a garden party.

As for this car, I have no idea where the 1977 turbo market is this week but while it's a nice looking car, it would really need to be inspected in person with its repaint, reupholstered seats, etc. The quality of the restoration and mechical work would be key on it, to me.

Several recent 930 auctions on BaT have ended without meeting reserve. I predict this one will do the same.

I also enjoy playing the car value game. That's a very nice looking 930 in great period colors, CA car, with a TRE engine rebuild. Pretty hard to knock any of that. Though I totally agree with Denis, my value would far more hinge on a full in-person inspection and drive rather than the opinion of a bunch of BaT "experts" based on a few photos. Seems like these are all over the place, I've seen higher mileage driver 930s recently as cheap as $70k but then the really nice ones are bringing big money. Overall though, things seem far softer than 2016.

I absolutely loved this one on BaT, it was not cheap: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-porsche-911-turbo-carrera-2/

Do you have to have an IQ of under 50 to post a comment on BAT?

Bid up to $110-120,000, which may or may not meet reserve, depending on how hard BaT was able to grind the seller on the reserve.

Has there really been that much of a bubble/correction? I don't follow closely but if so, this guy must be kicking himself for not cashing out a little sooner.

I'd really like to know how he got a color to sample car with a color that hadn't come out until two years later? I might have to ask on BAT but I guess then I'd have to register.

Dennis, I am kicking myself now that I know they went for that much 18 months ago. I would be happy with 130, forget 200. I have 55000 miles on my old 930.

Numbers may have been exagerated for effect but 76 and 77 turbos had a pretty crazy uptick in that time period.

aschen's numbers aren't much of an exaggeration.

Here's a pretty good example of someone who started his ad "still living in 2014," who has come to face the new reality.

Note his asking price in the first post, and the last post (and still not sold).

Those are sections that replace the original thermal reactors, and they are know to crack at that spot where the pipes converge - looks like someone really heaped on the weld material trying to fix some cracking. That entire exhaust system (the USA thermal reactor years), even with the reactor replacement sections, is terrible and really hurts performance.
