Woohoo! Tommy E. is coming to LA. Tickets bought!

This is a public service announcement for guitarheads. Tommy Emmanuel is coming to LA, Las Vegas and other cities this fall.

I have followed this guitarist for many years but never seen him live. I'm going Sept. 17th and some tickets are still available.

A little taste:

On my list - awesome. Any ide if he's doing other cities / locations?

Looks like a far reaching tour for 2015-2016. He is also doing a guitar clinic in Sept leading up to his tour. Several of my friends are going and I was curious if any other Pelicans would be at the LA show. It's a pretty small intimate venue.

Tommy Emmanuel is an amazing guitar player. Have seen a few times. If you play guitar, as you leave the show you will be faced with the question, do I go home and practice my guitar, or do I go home and burn my guitar...

We had literally the front center 3 seats to see him a few years back at Pepperdine. It was a religious experience. Few musicians have both the technical expertise and sheer joy making music that Tommy Emmanuel does (Hiromi is another one who does). Enjoy the show - we may grab tickets.

Semi-related - one of the other best concerts I've ever seen was Mark Knopfler, who is also on the road right now. Saw him in 2013 in Long Beach and it was sublime. Very laid back and don't expect to hear many Dire Straits songs. But his guitar playing and vocals are just stunningly good.

We've got tickets for New Year's here in AZ. I'm very excited to drag my wife to a show that she won't complain about having a headache afterwards.

IMHO the best shows are put on by hard-working artists who love their craft. Of the shows I've seen in my life I think Tommy, Brian Setzer, and Paco de Lucia (RIP) really floored me.

I don't really want to play like Tommy but I am glad that he does and appreciate all that he has accomplished. I understand too well the sacrifices he has made to get there. His sheer passion and joy for music is infectious and that alone is worth the price of admission for me. The rest of the show is free.

My wife has no interest in this show so a few of us guitarheads are going. Woot! woot!
