RE: the move, others have it right. Donate, distribute, or sell everything you can live without in CT and road trip the family heirlooms to TX via oneway truck. It will be a cross country adventure that you will never forget. A few years ago my wife and I flew to Ohio and picked up a specialty 36' medical van for her business. We proceeded to deliver it to SoCal via Rt 66 and its tributaries in December with a major winter storm bearing down. Quite an adventure.
