IndyCar fail
Are they trying to distroy this series?
"In a remarkable turn of events, Scott Dixon has come from 47 points back to win the 2015 IndyCar championship...." Double points in the last race of the season. ![]() Dixon wins 2015 IndyCar title via tiebreaker - IndyCar News |

"We threw it away," Montoya added. "You put double points in one race and it doesn't matter what you did all year."
Retards.

I'm not a huge Dixon fan but he earned it.
-Montoya had a commanding lead but had a bad last quarter of the season. He threw away the championship with his bad move on Power. -Rahal was on a charge and would have taken the championship if it weren't for two bad accidents that were not his fault. Both should be bummed but that's racing. I think that double points at the end of the season made it an exciting race right to the end. In reality there were only three people that had a realistic chance so it wasn't like anyone could win it. To be down on the the double points would be like saying that a football team has a perfect season and then gets knocked out in the first playoff game so the system sucks. No, that's just the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. At that level, the winner is not the most talented but the one that has the strongest mental focus and a little luck. Dixon had both the focus and luck today. BTW, there was one race a while back where Dixon gotten into an accident they had to take the car into the back to fix it. They came back out and ran the rest of the race God knows how many laps behind the leader but that one act of will and determination got them ONE POINT more. That one point seemed useless at the time but it was the last point they needed to tie with Montoya and ultimately win by having more race wins. If Montoya had led just one lap today he would have won the cup. If Montoya had not tagged Power he would have won the cup. Today's race was a WIN for the fans and for Indycar!

I thought the comment made by the TV commentator about Team Ganassi racing as a team and Team Penske members racing each other for the championship was telling.

The funny thing is, Montoya didn't complain when he won Indy and got double points for that.

Haven't followed much if any of it. Curious though, what's the attendance been at these venues? Filling the stands?

It was exciting though... guys tied on points, trying to pass one more guy - where's Timo Glock on the last lap when you need him (inside joke for F1 fans). it's hard to do... I too am disappointed in the gimmickry (I like Dixon, but Montoya probably deserved it more, would have made a better story anyway). Glad F1 did not do that. I sorta kinda get Indy 500 gets double, it's the crown Jewel, Sonoma not so much... Boy it was hot that day !!!

I enjoyed the race on tape. Montoya screwed up and cost him everything. Dixon, and crew, did what they had to do. Single points would not have any viewers at all. Good race, clean race, but I still don't like Dixon.

Kind of very similar in a different kind of way to the
Bud shootout or whatever they call it in NASCAR! So you race the whole season, and then essentially all of that doesn't matter much, because someone from way out can steal it! I don't know how I feel about these modern rules! I could see it being double points if they like called it the Sonoma 1000 miler!

Not picking on you there, we all have our favorites.. I'm not a huge fan either mostly because others are way more charismatic... The thing w/ Dixon though is that he's more talented than people give him credit for. Few people realize how good the guy really is, and what a great human being he is as well... I read some stuff about him in the past, when Dan Wheldon died, he essentially moved his entire family over to St Pete where Wheldon's widow lived for a few months, to support her. This time he was the one Indy guy at the hospital the entire time Justin Wilson was there. And did not tweet about it or ensured it was reported on... Not the guy's style. He's a stand up guy, nice guy, not a show off like other more "likeable" drivers... Not the stuff that makes "headlines" or popular drivers, but it forces respect, he's probably the one you'd want a as friend. And you don't win 4 WC by accident. (even though it should have been 3, this was a gimmick race)
