Forza 6 ... WOW !

Anybody else pick up a pre-release copy of Forza 6 ?

My son convinced me we had to have it and am I glad he did. Our last driving game had been GT5 a couple of years ago and I thought that was great but F6 is on another planet. The 1080p graphics are unbelievable and the night/weather options are amazing.

Great collection of cars in the game but unfortunately no P-cars. Hopefully Microsoft and Porsche can come to an agreement and they will be added in the future but for now there are plenty of other great options to drive.

Fantastic selection of tracks as well: Road Atlanta, Road America, Lime Rock, Laguna, Sonoma, Sebring, Long Beach, Spa, the 'Ring and Yas Marina just to name a few.

The only problem is that of course it requires a different steering wheel / pedal combo then GT 5 so we had to grab one of those and then modify the racing seat set-up to accomodate.

I can already see that I am going to be spending waaaaaaay toooooooo much time on this game.

EA apparently holds the rights. Forza Motorsport 4 missing Porsche brand due to EA licensing deal
Rumors are the pcars will be a $20 addon.

Looks incredible.
I would go out and buy it at Gamestop tomorrow if it didn't have DRM or Steam.

I've been thinking about getting another Xbox just for the latest Forza. The last one I played was 4. After a short search there does not look to be many options for a steering wheel for the Xbox 1... What are you and your son using?

Mike - we went with the Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Wheel. It was $95 at Gamestop. It doesn't have force feedback but has everything else. There are a couple of options in the $200 - $400 range with FF but I didn't want to spend that much.

I used Thurstmaster wheels with GT5 and the only difference (besides the FF) is that the 458 wheel has less turning radius. Granted it is more lifelike but it did take some getting used to.

MS does have a $60 wheel but from what I read about it, didn't sound like it was recommended.

BTW, since you mentioned F4, depending on the number of cars you had in your garage on that game you will earn credits in F6. I missed out on that benefit since all I previously played was GT. I read on line where if you hit all the garage thresholds in previous Forza versions you could earn up to 25,000,000 credits when you first start F6. That would be a nice way to start out the game !

You won't be disappointed if you get F6.

no supposed to ship for another week tho'. no rush. Halo and Call of duty keeps me occasionally entertained on Xbox1. My game time is winter months.

My cousin is really into online racing with forza and has never been in a real track car. I invited him to a real autox and as we walked the track with an instructor he quietly disagreed with the braking zone and lines that were suggested. I was skeptical, but took his advice. Having him in the passenger seat yelling instructions gave me the best times I ever had. I've been sold on forza every since and now the "kids" have a xbox1. I just wish it had Buttonwillow and Willow Springs.

Doug,
I had to buy the "Porsche pack " for F5 , cost @ $20. Well worth it. I made an older 911 any my Cayman S in the same colors/options and could play with graphics to see how it would look. Also drove countless laps around "old Le Mans" and the ring. Lots o' fun.

Same here... Only caveat is I bought a Fanatec porsche wheel with aluminum pedals and stuff at great expense 2y ago to build a PC rig. It never happened (move, job) I hope it works with the XboxOne. Gotta check ! But they have Le Mans at night, in the rain !! If you have a pulse you probably need this ! Porsche always arrive later...

Apparently so, you ned a hub ($200) that mimics all the console buttons and attach your old wheel to it. I did not see pedals, I need to do some research befor eI plonk $ into the console itself and the $$ hub. All or nothing...

I got it yesterday. Way, way exceeded my expectations.

Alfa TZ2 on nurburgring... in the rain.

All American Racers T1G, at spa... in the rain.

Subaru Brat...

I feel like Grand Prix Legends has finally been superseded.

Presently I'm night racing with reflections in the hood.

slack jaw wow stunning.

1080 x 60 fps looks stunning on my 70" 4K tv.

I can see the need for a wheel. Now the rest comes down to which one and $$$.

Halo and Forza is the main reason I finally bought a Xbox1. Actually pretty cheap in a bungle package for ~$350ish range.

I bought my youngest son the Forza edition Xbox this weekend. Wow, what an amazing game. There are reflections on the windshield from the dash. Rain runs up your helmet's faceshield. Love the local tracks too. I really need a wheel... I mean HE really needs a wheel.
