any thoughts on the Nissan Titan Diesel?

it's almost here..i think.

pictures are up on the Nissan site, but i'm not sold on the looks. anyone hearing any buzz?

Looks like an F150 trying even harder. Pretty gaudy, IMHO. Looks like it is almost a 3/4 ton truck? Is it a 3/4 ton truck? The V8 5.0 Cummins will churn out 500 ft/lbs > 300hp and you will have to pay for that by getting 15/21 mpg. Why not just buy a 3/4 ton diesel from one of the big three?

I did read up on Nissan and Toyota when truck shopping and decided it was not worth the wait, especially if you don't want a first year truck. The Tundra supposedly will come out with a 5.0 Cummins too? That is out because of the laughable Tundra truck beds that are 3 foot deep, looking like a hot tub on wheels.

The way to go is a 6 banger diesel in a true 1/2 ton truck. The jury is out in reliability, but the new Ram Ecodiesel has been all I was hoping it to be. Including city MPG that is on par with that Nissan's highway MPG rating.

If you want to test drive the Ram, let me know. Your taco won't know. Maybe on a bike ride meet? I may have to stay home this weekend even though it is B zone opener due to work. No cell reception in the Wilderness. Let's go on a bike ride!

I can't go if it doesn't have cell service due to work ... next weekend. But I find that the opener is a magic day. After that --- all bucks are in the next county ...

I like the specs, jury is out on the styling until I see one. The Ram Ecodiesel is tailored towards the recreational truck user, the new Titan seems much more on the work/towing end of the spectrum.
