I would think with a salvage title it should be cheaper than 20% off blue book, more like 40%.

How do you know the pictures you posted were immediately after the accident and not partly through the fix? My concern would be that the bags actually did deploy and were "fixed" - whichever way - in that picture. The front body parts are all missing, so it is possible work had started when that image was taken.

Call me paranoid, but I'd rather pay more and have a zero stories car or pay the same and get a car that's got a couple years and miles on top of what this has.

Last but not least, $10k loan to buy a salvaged titled car seems a bad idea. In case the car turns out a total lemon, you will have $10k debt and nothing to show for.

re-air-bags

my earlier volvo 95 940 had a position to read codes from the airbags
on the volvo's built in code flasher

knowing volvo's obsession with safety
I bet there is a eazy way to check air bag history / status codes

Bank willing to lend 50% of book value.

Bank says it books at 30K

As long as it passes inspection, am I wrong offering $19,500? They are asking 22K

Thanks for all your input.

I think you are in the proper price area for the car. Lets put it this way, I would spend that money for this car at this time ($19K).

Can't hurt to offer $18...

I purchased the car. Time tell. Insurance company will payout as full retail value. Sales tax was $650.00 for a 2012 xc70 with 21k miles.;-)
