Had one at work and it cooked them fine, no different than an oven except the pizza one heats up faster.

Tabletop electric one didn't get hot enough for me, they only go to 350-400, which is just like an oven, so what's the point? I have an oven in my kitchen already. If you can find one that will go to 650-800 deg let me know, that's wood fired pizza temp range and my target. In a house I used to live in I removed the latch from the oven door so I could bake pizzas on the clean cycle, which would get up to about 650.

I think you'll get similar performance with a stone in your oven. Or checkout the versions that work on the grill. A friend made pizza with a grill setup and it was darn good crust.

Yes a pizza stone as Vincent mentions is worth getting. I buy frozen pizzas and use the pizza stone in the regular oven. Otherwise the best tasting pizzas for me are those made in restaurant wood burning ovens.

I was thinking about these propane ones. I will check the temp. What's a pizza stone?

my Weber gas grill gets hot as heck.

with a pizza stone and some help lifting the lid..partially you can slide a pie in and out fairly easy.

but, i use it in the kitchen oven. TRICK. set the oven on high, and put the rack as high as it can go..pizza stone on top. it gets pretty hot at the upper levels of my oven. 500 i imagine.

This is the best "portable" oven on the market.

A pizza stone is like a stone like plate that you put your pizza on in the oven. I have had mine about 15 years. I think it enables a crust to cook better than putting it on a metal pan. Crust seems to turn out better.

A pizza oven should be very hot.
To crisp the crust from below and hold in dry heat.

(=heavy)
Think of a deep cycle marine battery. Hold and maintain.

Most portable units won't have that.

Ok, thanks. I have seen some of those units at sporting goods for 3-400 bucks that will accommodate a small pizza. My thinking was that it would be fun to make a pie with a little less grease and weird items that I like. Oh well, maybe when i grow up and make lots of money then I will get a real one

(Sorry. Retraction. Re-read OP's original question. I didn't mean to be negative.)

If a few key moments of memories with your son is forever lost....it is definitelyworth more than a few bucks.
Buy it. Do it.
Be proud. Have fun.
Enjoy life.

I take out pizza stone put it on the grill - fire up all 3 burners and get it ripping hot - throw the pie on and then turn the back burner on if there are lots of toppings to help out. Is it the best pizza in the world - no but it turns out pretty damn good - takes 3 to 4 minutes to cook

Like someone said below, perfect for frozen pizza, 30 minutes at 480 to get it hot and then put the pizza on it.
