I think the Miata is more about the experience, while people buy an FRS/BRZ expecting it to be a full on sports car and are disappointed. Simple fun doesn't require 400 HP.
Btw, for those who would call the Miata "slow", most tests are getting 0-60 times in under 6 seconds. So that slow and girly Miata would give every 911 up through a Carrera a run for its money. |
For me they both seem to be engaging cars that would provide plenty of fun, which is the whole point. Nitpicking aside, I think it comes down to your personal preference for a coupe, or an open car. I think both manufacturers are to be congratulated for producing these, because they really do address an enthusiastic market. I'm thinking about getting one, but haven't made up my mind about which. It's a good thing to have such a choice available. I have to find out if I can fit into the Miata, though; I'm comfy in the BRZ.

http://image.spreadshirt.com/image-s...Bill-Oh-No.png Hyundai is recalling certain 2011-2012 Sonata sedans over concerns that their engines may stall. The recall affects an estimated 470,000 Sonatas in the U.S. market. The Problem : Sonatas equipped with 2.0-liter or 2.4-liter gas engines may suffer from engine failure in certain conditions. During the manufacturing process, metallic debris may not have been fully removed from the crankshaft. This problem can restrict oil flow to the connecting rod bearings, causing damage to the connecting rod. If this occurs, the engine may produce a knocking noise and stall out. There have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the problem. |
