Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas
Has anyone here been to a Barrett-Jackson auction?
They're having one in late Sep. in Las Vegas and I'm thinking of going. Is it worth checking out? Thanks in advance

Are you going to buy, or for the spectacle?

Cool. I have no advice. I wouldn't want to buy a car there, but I'd be curious how your experience goes.

Friends of mine have gone, they say it's worth it for the spectacle.

I went the first year they had one in the OC.
For the money I'd say it is worth doing once, but not twice.

I went to Scottsdale 2 years ago and it was one hell of a "car show". Damn sure worth at least doing once.

went to Scottsdale & Palm Beach, twice each, about 5 years ago - worth the trip just for the car show even as you get tired of all the old fat guys in Hawaiian shirts and big watches (and I am that demographic). Mecum is a bit toned down on that front.
Every car guy/gal should go. You'll love it. |

Thanks all
The entry fee is pretty cheap, $20 per day or $55 for 3 days. That's for 55 and over (which I am). I'm leaning toward going. Flights and hotel aren't to expensive, except the Canadian dollar is in the toilet right now.

The relatively inexpensive cost of goods and services(in theUSA) makes up for the lower Canadian dollar, more-or-less.

I wouldn't buy anything there either. I'm just going to check out the cars.

I've been to Scottsdale.
Didn't make a special trip- We were in Sedona, and on the way back to Sky Harbor to catch a flight home. As long as we were driving through Scottsdale during the auction, may as well see what it's all about. Glad I did. Those guys are very good at generating "Auction Fever". I can see how the energy in that tent is intoxicating to an old fat guy in a Hawaiian shirt with fistfuls of cash. Contrast the auction tent with the mellow scene in the other tents where cars are staged, where one can wander up and down the aisles, admiring the cars up close and personal. Quite the spectacle. Enjoy the trip. |

Pics from the auction
I flew down on Thursday and went to the auction on Friday.
If your're a car guy/gal you should check it out. The auction is in one area and the cars are in a huge building next to it. For $17 it was the best car show I've been to in a while if ever. Outside you could be driven around in a Mustang, Viper, or Corvette. Inside was a Challenger simulator on a racetrack. There were some deals. Here are some pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
