Oregon College shooting leaves at least 10 dead and 20 injured | Daily Mail Online

It's Across the street from my inlaws. I courted my wife on the campus: many a moonlit walk.
My kids swim with grandpa in the swimming hole in the umpqua just below campus.
Just tragic. Trying to get ahold of in laws now.

really would like to know the psychology behind these murders.

pcardude 10-01-2015 12:07 PM

Why does this keep happening? Wtf is wrong with people who do this?

reverie 10-01-2015 12:07 PM

update -- 13 dead now, 6 more critically injured. :(

Apparently the shootings were mostly in one classroom.

This is unbelievable....

WTF is with the people posting suggestions on how best to kill people? Can they be charged with incitement?

JavaBrewer 10-01-2015 01:08 PM

^ I certainly hope so.

"I'm going to go out in a big way and take a lot of people with me".

My dad would tell me that when he was a kid growing up (in Illinois) the kids would bring their rifles to school and lean 'em up against the wall by the front door of the classroom (this was in the '30s and early '40s). On the way home they would plink at cans or bag a squirrel.

The mentality is different today.

I know I say it every time, and it's only my opinion, and I'm doing a disservice to the millions of people who have been helped, but

Watch and wait until tomorrow when we learn of the shooter's history with SSRI drugs.

Condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy.

vonsmog 10-01-2015 02:40 PM

Yet we never hear of what anti-depressant drugs these shooters are on. must be the drug companies threaten to pull all their advertising money to keep it all quiet!

Gogar 10-01-2015 02:41 PM

Well, no, it's not. It's more about the right to medical records privacy. That's why it's a tricky subject.

carambola 10-01-2015 02:45 PM

shooter asked which religion the individual was before deciding to shoot.

berettafan 10-01-2015 02:48 PM

Gogar For a rock star you sure do have your head on straight. Good stuff man.

cstreit 10-01-2015 02:48 PM

Maybe some day we'll figure this out, but clearly there is something in certain people that just lends them to taking out a lot of people "with them"

Almost to a fault these maniacs off themselves as soon as they realize they are about to be stopped. When the police get there, when they can't do any more major damage, etc.. It's all over the world, whether acid attacks, mass stabbings, car bombings, etc..

Like someone above - I strain to comprehend what twisted logic leads these animals to this conclusion.

Alex Skarlatos (spelling), one of the US service members that stopped the train shooter in france 2 months ago was attending that college.

from what i understand they captured the suspect alive. I am glad because we can examine that person before executing.

My sincerest condolences to the families who lost their kids, as a father I am gutted.
