Corrosion Samples

The company I work for 4D Technology Corporation is investigating our ability to measure surface corrosion.

Obviously, rusty steel bar is not very exciting.

We are looking for more esoteric samples, something like rocket fuel corrosion on thrust vector nozzles

A relatively flat sample is best, anything larger than 10mm square.

If you have anything we could use, let me know.

Cheers

Wish I could help. A lifetime ago I did a lot of corrosion testing - rain erosion on ' copter blades, stress corrosion on a variety of aerospace structural materials, I ran a years- long program of corrosion testing in humidity/ph and salinity controlled environments, both static and under cyclic loads. The data is out there.
But that was a lifetime ago.

When I was in the nuclear navy we worried a lot about corrosion and erosion of all our pipe systems. The nuclear systems were usually pretty over designed but several times we would still get pin holes in the pipe of the steam generators and have to plug the tubes. Did that once to the 1B reactor on the Big "E" when we were off the coast of Vietnam and spent a week for the whole shutdown, depressurize, drain a loop, find the leaker, plug it and weld then recover all while dropping bombs and such. We found that erosion due to high flows usually caused more issues than corrosion?

Sure! Does it have interesting metallurgy or chemistry?

If you could send a small sample that would be great!
