Nearly $10,000 for a two-wheel drive automatic transmission Toyota with a salvage title?

Holy smokes....

Maybe he meant 9900 Swedish Krona.

I hope it IS worth 10 grand, because that makes my '92 one owner 4WD with similar mileage worth about 20 grand!

I hope the Auto Kennel is a "non kill shelter".

I had two 85s. One is just like it, an SR5, the other was a standard pickup without the extra cab. is it original 22RE motor? From the factory, they cylinder had a tendency to get oblong causing premature wear. That damn thing will run forever. Is it carb or EFI? love that solid front axle, bouncy ride for sure.

I'll bet they're serious on the 10K ask. Original plates, dealer frames, original paint, stock. Ridiculous price but yeah, I'll bet they're serious.

This is an SR5 too, the engine is original with 195k miles on it. 1985 is the only year you could get solid front axle, extended cab, and EFI (first year for EFI and '86 went to IFS). You aren't joking about the ride, it's like a buckboard. Apparently the two tone paint is pretty rare.

I appreciate ANY comments, no worries...(I do drink vodka and mostly "Svedka." :

My additional input, food for thought, would be 2 fold...

1. Search the www for another all original, '82 SR5, long-bed with automatic...wait, there isn't one.

2. This listing ended today...

Supply and demand. You covered the supply side but is there really demand for an 82 2wd auto pickup truck?

The demand side sure is higher on a Celica. Plus, that Celica is a survivor with 46k miles. 1/3 of the 82 pickemup ...

I am going to be curious to hear what the 82 truck sells for. Maybe there is a market that I am unaware of!

Thanks for not getting offended for the vodka joke. Shoulda input the smiley faces. The Celica is a different animal, there's small cult following, but an 82 truck, especially an auto? You must know, hence the pricing. If they are, please do tell, I am interested to know as one of my 85 was rolled (all my fault) and my other truck was stolen. I like to have another 85 one day to re-live my rambunctious youth in the desert.

I don't think he is too far off. The 4x4s are usually a little more valuable but his is nice. This one sold for $7100 No Reserve: 25K-Mile 1981 Toyota SR5 Pickup | Bring a Trailer, lower miles but in this case I think condition drives the price opposed to milage.

I will say these things are a pain to find parts for. Toyota still makes some stuff but it is a nightmare searching for parts for a vehicle that effectively doesn't have a model name. They just called them a "pickup".

Actually per the ad it's a salvage title with prior paint. It's also the least desirable cab, least desirable bed, and not 4wd. Great condition for a 1982, but that's like having a mint condition Chevy Cavalier.

Out this way, there are still plenty. You have to remember, CA made Toyota. Toyotas were all over the streets by 1983, and were really popular, especially their trucks. Since the late 70s folks discovered that they just do not die. Junk yards and such still have parts hanging around. There are specific Toyota small truck junk yard around here.

They are called Pick Up or SR5 Pick Up. EFi or carb, 20R, 22R, 22RE. Darn it man, I miss that truck. It took my girl friend (wife now) and I across Canada twice right through the middle of the Rockies during our college years.
