Another pharmaceutical lab will be selling a $1.00 alternative to his $750 pill.
Drug costing $750 a capsule gets competition from new $1 rival | SanDiegoUnionTribune.com Turing Pharmaceuticals sparked nationwide outrage and government investigations when it raised the cost of a generic drug used for AIDS and cancer from $13.50 to $750 a capsule. Today, a San Diego biomedical company today introduced a competitor to that drug that sells for $1 a capsule.

And the fact that it brought competing drugs out of the woodwork and to the market is why it was a good thing that he hiked the price so high. I highly doubt it's gonna stay $1/tablet. But this is a good way to make a splash for the new makers.

The $1 alternative is not FDA approved which creates uncertainty and distribution problems.

When you pick up antibiotics for your kid and the pharmacist makes up the liquid suspension on the spot that is compounding. It really just means it does not come in a finished tablet form. At least that's my understanding.
