Looking To Drop A Few Pounds?

If so, I'll give my hearty endorsement for the Weight Watchers app. I started the program on 7/26 and weighed 225.6 lbs. Yesterday I was at 201.2. I'm 6'1" and 35 years old, I wasn't huge but definitely needed to drop a few. I am very active but don't actively work out simply for fitness. The app doesn't do anything miraculous, it simply gives you a set amount of points based on your weight and weight loss goals, assigns points to foods, then tracks your consumption to that daily and weekly points goal. No crazy diets or weird foods, I still drink beer and eat steak, but it helps to make you very aware of what you are eating and moderate the things that are not healthy. It also helps you to seek out healthy alternatives to existing food, for instance I replaced breakfast bars with fruit. For me the $20/mo for the app has been very well spent, my initial target was 200 lbs but I'm thinking between 190 and 195 will actually be better. I've already had to buy some new clothes and have all of my dress clothes altered.

Congratulations!!!
.
Might try doing a little resistance work...lean muscle eats fat even while sleeping.
.
I've begun to work out again...not sure what the barbells weigh, but they're purple.
Love that little joke.

Don, I'm sure some focused exercise would expedite the process. I am not a couch potato but absolutely suck at exercise simply for the sake of exercise. My relaxing weekend consisted of detailing two Mustangs inside and out, washing my wife's van, one kid soccer game, one kid football game, and wiring my 3rd car garage for power and lights, so I don't spend much time sitting around either.

Good job! I say do whatever works for you. The important thing is the result.

I've been on a Martini and shrimp cocktail diet lately. I haven't noticed a change in weight, but after a couple of Martinis I don't give a damn, so it works out.

I heard about the Oprah deal this morning on CNBC. Genious. Buy 40 mil worth of stock, immediately double your worth. I did not know they had an app - that's good.

I am pretty fat these days for my range at 190lbs at 6'2". I haven't been able to run due to a bum foot. All the cycling and swimming in the world isn't going to make up for running! But I am keeping up with the exercise buddies - so the fitness at least is there!

Funny, that's my stress relief program.

You can do all the rummaging around you like, but it will not substitute for cardiovascular exercise. Meaning, getting your pulse up to 120+ for a reasonable extent of time - say 30 minutes. You really should add this - it is very good for your system - both physical as well as mental. It will reduce the need for self medication with alcohol as well ...

Congratulations! I've been trying to get my weight down also. I'm 6' and 200lbs, down from 210. It's been two weeks. I dropped 7lbs the first week and now I seem stuck at 200. I've just basically cut out the sweets and carbs.

I'll have to look at the app. I have a couple of aunts at did WW, and one actually worked for them. But they have obviously let things go the last couple of years.

I believe the hard part is keeping the weight off. Good luck and keep us posted.

Dang, so swimming laps won't do the trick? I was thinking about trying out our lap pool.

Years ago a friend of mine lost 30 lbs. in one year when she switched from Coke to diet Coke.
.
I've lost 17 lbs. in 6 months by not eating after 6 or 7 PM...plus drinking tons of water.
I do pee a lot.

Losing weight is pretty simple. Being general here, but:

Knock out all sugar for the most part. Soda, including diet soda, dognuts, ice creme, etc...

Kill the carbs, potato, white bread, chips, etc...

Those are your two mains. Thing a BBQ Joint, smoked turkey, green beans and pintos.

Breakfast joint: Omelet, cottage cheese, meat patty, veggies, etc...

Move your fat ass three times a week then eat some good mexican a couple a days week. Seriously, you do not need to starve yourself to lose weight. Key is to get off sugar and bad carbs. Ok to cheat a little during the week, have a few drinks. Just realize moderation and to move your body 30 minutes 3 x a week.

Resistance training magnifies results when mixed in. You can dramatically change your body shape with some diet change and a little bit of exercise in a short period of time.
