Olds Trofeo eBay auction in Texas (9 cars all together!)

I had a neighbor with an '88 Trofeo and always liked that car.

Periodically I browse for them and lo and behold here's an auction for 5 complete cars plus 4 parts cars...all rolled into one auction.

2 days left..no bids.....starting bid at $57.5K and a "Make offer" option.

These cars look like they've been kept up and are in excellent condition...wow...

Quote:
We are only representing the seller of these vehicles. We do not have them at our location, they are located in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Seller has 5 very clean Oldsmobile Trofeo's for sale. They all have been garage kept. 4 of the Trofeo's have between 40-50,000 miles and one has 70k miles.

Year, Color and VIN:

1992 - Silver - 1G3EV13LXNU301720 (Needs pass window)
1991 - White - 1G3EV13L0MU305242
1990 - Cranberry - 1G3EV13COLU309886
1989 - Bordeaux - 1G3EV11CXKU304633 (70,981 Miles)
1988 - Silver - 1G3EV11C6JU313098

Each Trofeo has won “Best of Class” in car shows across the country. The 1990 won BOC and SR Best of Class in Pennsylvania. The 1992 won BOC and SR Best of Class in Kentucky.

Seller has all literature for each vehicle, owners manuals and records.

Each vehicle is mechanically sound, ride and drive perfect and all have the reliable 3800 V6 engine.

The 4 parts cars are just that, “parts cars”. Parts are becoming scarce for these rare vehicles so he is going to throw them into the collection.

The owner would like to sell all 9 vehicles as a collection for $57,500.00 or best offer. These vehicles are becoming extremely rare. If you’re looking to own one ot eh nicest Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo collections out there, please don’t miss out on this opportunity.

Are you really, really, good with electrical work? Because these make Lucas look simple. I think maybe Lucas designed the VIC.

Scott....

I've had a ton of cars and trucks over the years.

Most of them during my ownership required no electrical work outside of a fuse or lamp replacement from time to time.

Are you saying Trofeo's have a TRACK RECORD of needing EXTRA electrical work?

Or.....are you just saying they have a lot of electrical components and thus might have the potential for extra electrical issues.

My buddy never had a problem with his.

Have you owned one yourself and if so what was your experience?

What about the concept of buying a used car that has been cared for vs. one that hasn't received the best care - maybe left parked outside for example.

How would that paradigm fit in with your comment?

Sorry Baz, but I struggle to find anything desirable about that car. It's a front wheel drive badge engineered econobox built during potentially the lowest point of GM quality. $57k for 5 cars that likely aren't worth $5k each plus some parts is insane.

"Nicest Trofeo" sorta strikes me like saying you have the best STD, it's still just not good.

Since you asked, here's a cool old Blazer for the price of just one Trofeo. Chevrolet Blazer K5 | eBay

OK - thanks for the explanation. It's just a difference of opinion on what is considered desirable.

Happens all the time.

Enjoy your ugly Blazer!

I don't get it either. That's over $10k for each car. Are these selling for that kind of dough when sold individually? Glad you like these, but I think you could do a lot better looking for a single one. These definitely are good "barn find" cars, as many geriatric folks bought them in the 90s and their offspring may now find them parked for 10+ years.

Lets hope there isn't a sink hole under that rare collection.

George.....

There's a "MAKE OFFER" button on the auction site.

No one has bid at the starting bid price.

As far as a purchasing decision - there's 9 cars all together.

I don't know the exact condition of the others.

What if you made an offer of $30K and it was accepted?

Would that be more acceptable?

I'm OK if someone doesn't appreciate this model or even this auction.

To each their own.

!

Starting bid is a good indication of what someone expects to fetch. If you offer 50%, I doubt you will get the cars. But keep us posted! Maybe you get "lucky". Everyone needs nine of these.

I don't get it either.

The car was probably a nice GM in the day compared to the other GM FWD cars, but now it's just an old car, but not old as in cool, old, collectible, just an old car that was never a super cool car.

Sure, if they are in great shape, they are probably worth $5k per good running car, but I just don't see this guy getting $60k.

Just because you have the what you think is the coolest collection of 9 pin dot matrix printers, doesn't mean that anyone else is going to be that excited by them.

Now, if it was a collection of Buick Grand Nationals or maybe even IROC/Z28/Trans Am/etc or even the '94-'96 Impala SS, there may be collectors out there looking for them.

That Chrysler at least has T-tops. I could see that they have some weird following. But a Toronado from the 90s?
