FanDuel, DraftKings Ads - Anyone else sick of these?
Full on blitz with these ads it seems on every channel and radio station for a couple of months now. Seems most sports talk radio is now fantasy driven, too. I love all kinds of sports but just not into the gambling aspects of it. The team "covered," the "Vegas Line," the "points spread"... Just not my thing.
And now these stupid commercials with the idiot guys acting like they're about to crap themselves over a play for a chance at a million dollars? Really? What a bunch of BS. And, yes, it's a billion dollar industry... The FanDuel and DraftKings Gambling Controversy, Explained | GQ |
I guess I am one of the lucky ones. Never heard of it.
Seems everything is getting onto the "reality" bandwagon. |
Apparently the NCAA is sick of them too:
NCAA sends letter to DraftKings, FanDuel prohibiting ads during championship events |
Apparently there is big money to be made. Me, I'm not interested.

I am sick of th dang SPAM I keep getting about it.
I always record TV and watch it on my DVR so I don't see the stupid commercials. |

Heard on TV that they spent $80 mil on those ads and we got hit several tens of thousands of times with them... At the dame time, the FBI is starting investigating them ;-)

I have no idea what or who they are.

The ads are all over radio and TV. I wonder how many pro sports team owners have a piece these things. Sports betting seems to be HUGE in the 20-30 year old age bracket.

I'm not sure exactly what it is but I'm sick of the ads. It's not straight-out wagering because that's illegal and those of us who do enjoy it really have to jump through hoops to get around it. I change the TV channel when these ads and the ones with Samual L Jackson jawing about some bank come on. I'm. I find Jackson really irritating, like nails on a blackboard.

I'll take fantasy football advertising over political campaign ads ANY DAY.
|
History, Science, and Comedy Central seem to be running Rachel Maddow commercials nonstop.

I just commented to my wife the other night that I can't stand all of those adds, trying to get people to lose money (house odds). I was really sick of the mini infomercials that lasted 2-3 minutes with the same "guy's guys", celebrating thier winnings, while i'm trying to watch a football game. I have never, and will never gamble on sports.....give it up !

Seems like fan duel is dedicated to football crowd while the viagra ads are focusing on baseball, sick of both.
Glad I don't have any grade school age kids. Mommy, "what's an erection?" Go ask your father, he has one all the time.:D |
they did a story on these operations on (shutter) npr. diane holy crap how is this woman still on radio rheem (who sounded out of her element and uninformed) had some guys from the industry.
interesting points: -very, very, very few people actually win. 99% sheep, 1% wolves (or 'whales') -the industry is wide open to 'insider trading' and has already seen one employee win $300k + using inside info in one weekend. -house rake is about 10%. iirc this is a LOT more than typical vegas casino takes. -key to winning is finding out the players who are on a low % of teams (% owned) -argument is it's not gambling because skill is involved. -WILL be regulated in the near future by fed/state -some states already banned -industry people admit it's a 'stupid tax' |
