Turkey

I knew eggs and chicken prices shot up with the bird flu, but I'm glad I already have the Thanksgiving bird in the freezer. Grade A was $.58lb purchase price on mine.

Some say they can't be found at the local grocer.

Turkeys? All I have to do is walk down onto the other side of my driveway. These might be a little tough though if not cooked right.

Bird flu also ravaged the turkey growers. Most grocers will have shorter supply and higher prices. BTW..that .58# bird you bought cost the farmer a lot more than that to raise...the grocers us low prices on the turkey to draw you in so you will buy everything else from them at a more profitable rate.

I've had my fair share of wild Rio Grande turkey, it's not worth the price of admission. Ben, it's a 19lb bird, sold for $.58 per lb, and they nailed me on the spiral ham.

For our Thanksgiving you could get a turkey for $0.99 a lbs. if you spent $50 worth of grocerys. $1.56 without.

I'm a fan. My wife and I were both surprised by the general prosperity of Turkey. I thought it would barely be a step above Egypt, but I was very wrong. Istanbul is very, very nice. The people are awesome. Driving from Izmir down to Selcuk and further south in our rental car, we could have been driving in Southern California. Very surprising. Have you been?

Sorry OP!

Yes, sorry for the detour OP.

Yes. Istanbul. Izmir to Selçuk for Ephesus. Cirali - a beach area south of Antalya (our favorite). Goreme in Cappadocia. We loved it all. And the Turkish people were the friendliest that we have found anywhere in all of our travels.

Ian
