996 interior. Is this what they mean?

Is it because the Taurus from the same year looks similar?

I don't see the similarity. Taurus looks better anyways.

Until you hit something and are impaled on the steering column - no thanks!

But I agree that those interiors look practically the same. I would not recognize the 996 interior as "Porsche". If I look at an air cooled 911 OTOH ...

Motion, I mean Richard, I highly doubt there are many Ford Taurus's from 2000 that are still around. Meanwhile, my 2000 996 still keeps on truckin' with nearly 180,000 miles as a Daily Driver. My all-black, full leather interior is still in excellent condition too, after 15 years and all those miles.

Keep on hatin', Richard. While it may not have the "last of the air cooled 911's" aura, as your 993 has, it's an excellent car, nonetheless. In most ways, actually, it's BETTER.

I love my car, even if you don't.

I'm failing to see the issue with the 996/986 interior. The interiors simply reflect the time frame when they were made. I had an 82 SC. The interior was spartan and loud. I also had a 2002 Boxster. From a creature comfort perspective, I would take the Boxster.

the 997 fixed everything I didn't like about the 996 from an appearance perspective.

I don't know if it's the grey they chose for 996 era interiors or the surfaces or a combo of both but the grey 996 interior does not, as said above, say Porsche to me.

This. While I love the air cooled 911s, if you've taken one apart they strike me as being built by a German man in a shed. The 986/996 interior also wears very well, especially the base interiors.

It's funny watching this forum and how the water cooled cars have gradually infiltrated. I should have kept notes of all the 986/996 haters to see how many own them today. Given another 10 years of air cooled 911 appreciation I suspect that list will be a LOT longer. It's funny how typically those that knock the cars have no real experience with them.

The 996 interior is probably the #1 reason I wouldn't buy one.

Scott, for sure, the 996 is mechanically better in every way than a 993. I'm just not a fan No hate.

I don't like Boeings, either. But, I still fly in them

That's because I had my eyes shut the whole time. The Turbo Camry is an amazing car, I could forgive the interior for the performance; the 996, not so much. If I had to have a TT, I'd gut the interior.

The Taurus seems to have an OK interior. I don't have a problem with my Boxster interior either. It's well laid out. And I'd sooner drive the Boxster than the Taurus.
