Just do not like the guy. Couldn't we please have Palmer instead?

quicksix 10-27-2015 05:36 PM

I'll kick in ten for that.
Fortunately they are having technical difficulties, so were getting the B team which is better than the A team by far.

MattKellett 10-27-2015 05:37 PM

Looks like you don't need the $20!

What I want to know is why isn't there any cheer leaders in baseball???

biosurfer1 10-28-2015 06:08 AM

I was thinking the same thing. I pretty much won't watch anything he calls if I don't have a vested interest, and even if I do, I almost change the channel anyways.

Amen! I'm a huge Royals fan. The "B Team" last night was actually the international team. I think they did a nice job during the outages.

And congratulations on the win, tonight should be another good game.

xbrumossalesman 10-28-2015 07:08 AM

Joe needs to join The Dollar Shave Club

DonDavis 10-28-2015 07:11 AM

Hmm, I don't mind Buck.

I'm just glad it's not Brennaman.

berettafan 10-28-2015 07:43 AM

i think the facial hair is an attempt to be more relevant and certainly seems to help that massive forehead he sports but what I hate is the way he calls the game. comes across as knowing and caring nothing for the game. like he's just there to read the prompter and get a paycheck.

and damn if he puts emphasis on the dumbest stuff. just sucks.

craigster59 10-28-2015 09:11 AM

I'll chip in $100 to have Vin Scully call the games.

Back when Chick was doing the Lakers game if the networks didn't use his commentary I would set a radio on the coffee table and turn the sound off on the TV... same for the Dodgers if they didn't play Vinny.

Scott Douglas 10-28-2015 10:48 AM

I'm with Don on this. I like Joe and am sure glad it isn't someone like Kenny Albert or Vinny.

Talk about bringing back memories, I loved the simulcasts and always listened to Chick from the time I was a kid.

When he passed I was saddened and mourned, I still get a little upset thinking about it.
He knew more about the lakers team, the players, and the game of basketball than the lakers coaches did.

I wish I could have met him.

berettafan 10-20-2020 08:43 AM

Told you guys he was worthless.

ckelly78z 10-20-2020 08:48 AM

I'll take Joe Buck ANY DAY over Tony Romo as an announcer, his voice really irritates me, and is always trying (unsuccessfully) to be funny.

Both of those idiots on the hot mike should get fired, but that only happens to conservatives !

Noah930 10-20-2020 08:54 AM

I actually like Romo. As an ex-QB, he provides an insight into the game that most other announcers lack. And he's willing to try to make predictions (on the upcoming play) that other announcers can't/won't do.

But not a Joe Buck fan. He just seems too stiff--like a talking bobblehead--for me. I don't understand how some of these announcers make it so far and last so long when I think they're not very good. I think Paul Page, when he was calling CART races in the 80s and 90s, was also like that. Why do the networks keep hiring guys that stink?

And like Craig, Scott, and Sammy have posted, LA has been blessed with great announcers: Vin, Chick, Bob Miller. Those guys are institutions.

Things then turned political with Aikman saying, “That stuff ain’t happening with a Kamala-Biden ticket. I’ll tell you that right now, partner.”
Yeah.

But is he saying we don't want Harris/Biden - because they would do away with the flyovers?

Or is he is he saying the opposite?

Could go either way, couldn't it?

I took it as support of Biden-Harris, and a slam of Trump-Pence. He meant it as a waste of taxpayer money.

stevej37 10-20-2020 09:02 AM

remember this game? No TV announcers for the entire game.

Yes, his statement immediately beforehand was regarding the amount of fuel used 'just for a little flyover'.

Scott Douglas 10-20-2020 10:57 AM

I like the inter action of Buck with both Smoltz and Aikman.
Romo is OK but his voice is such that it gets my Tinnitus going really badly, same as it does with Kenny Albert.
We all have the choice of turning the sound off and just watching the game if we want. Frankly I'd like them to turn off the fake crowd noise more than anything.

GO Dodgers!

(Am I allowed to say that here?)

Sigh. . . Buck and Aikman are just pure ignorant and should stick to what they know. Ask any military aviator about this. The pilots were going to fly anyway. There are training requirements they have to stay current with. Tactical/non tactical sorties, over water, night navigation, formation flying, etc etc.

The military just schedules a flight and develops a flight plan that puts the plane over a sports venue at a particular time.

The pilots log the time and check off what training requirement that flight satisfied.

It’s not like they dumped the fuel in the ocean. The pilots were logging required flight hours.

Thanks RNajarian, ignorance can be fixed.

That was the other guy who said that....supposedly sarcasm.

Which prompted my question if the other comment wasn't also sarcasm.

Plus 2 on Tony Romo, can't take him at all but the media loves the guy and I'm afraid he might be around for a long time. The next is Chris Collinsworth in SNF. When he played, he couldn't catch a cold.

Howard Cosell wasn't much of an athlete either. :)

Noah930 10-20-2020 05:43 PM

Hah, I also like Collinsworth. Romo and Collinsworth are the two football announcers I enjoy listening to the most.:D

onewhippedpuppy 10-20-2020 06:16 PM

I can’t stand Joe Buck. The way he fixates on a certain man crush and won’t STFU for an entire series drives me insane.

Drbraunsr 10-20-2020 07:05 PM

Can Joe Buck EVER say anything positive about the Dodgers ? ever ?

My gut is Joe bull****s his way through baseball games and in truth knows very little about the players. The factoids he tosses out are probably from a prompter. This would explain why he focuses on one guy. Maybe that’s the one guy he read up on before the series.

Everything about his delivery smells like BS to me.

Yeah, I used to take a radio to Giants games. I did not care for the announcer when I was watching King's basketball games on TV, so would listen to the radio guy, who was great, and turn down the sound on the TV.

icemann427 10-20-2020 10:20 PM

I have a hard time hearing them talk with all the background noise. Does anybody else have that problem or is it just my stupid TV?

mattdavis11 10-21-2020 04:47 AM

John Madden needs to come out of retirement and call baseball games.

legion 10-21-2020 04:51 AM

Can't stand Joe Buck.

Now Tony Romo? I like the guy. Usually when I have a football game on I'm barely paying attention to the talking heads droning on and on and on. His insight into the game makes it way more interesting to watch.

If I had to chose between watching my home team with Buck or a random game I don't really care about with Romo, I'll take Romo.

mattdavis11 10-21-2020 05:31 AM

Romo is to football as Smoltz is to baseball, color commentary, play by play analyst. Romo can call it beforehand because he can see the defense, Smoltz has no idea what pitch is coming unless the Astros are playing.

I like how Smoltz gives the insight on how the baseball comes off the fingers disguised as a fastball but is a slider. When Joe goes cutter, or any of those other yahoos, I tune out.

We need a knuckler back in baseball.

Pedro '84 Coupe 10-21-2020 06:35 AM

Joe Buck should call games with Ratso Rizzo. Might be more entertaining

As long as we're all complaining, I hate Erin Andrews voice. Like chalk on a chalkboard. :(
