Is It Wrong....

To go down stairs and just sit in your 911 at 1 AM?

slodave 10-29-2015 10:20 PM

Nope, not at all... Done it many a late night.

pegasus9 10-29-2015 10:21 PM

Nope
Nothing wrong

Wife / significant other might think you're bonkers or off your rocker.
But hey it's a work of art and it might as well be the same as going downstairs and staring at a Picasso. It's art in my opinion.

ckissick 10-29-2015 10:25 PM

That's a rhetorical question, right?

sc_rufctr 10-29-2015 10:44 PM

I've done it just to get away from everything and in the dark my interior looks OEM fresh. ;)

It has to be air-cooled so you can enjoy the lingering oil drip aroma. reminiscent of the 'pits' at Le Mans & dream on....

With other P cars's you may as well sit in your Toyota. :p

As a matter of fact, I have done it many times in my younger days but never in my 911. Oil smell or not. Love that smell BTW

KFC911 10-30-2015 02:11 AM

Yes it's wrong....

But I don't have stairs :D

DanielDudley 10-30-2015 02:41 AM

Sounds enviable to me.

Scuba Steve 10-30-2015 03:13 AM

Yep, did it more than once after I bought the 924S.

petrolhead611 10-30-2015 03:58 AM

Yes its wrong, very wrong. I am not going to walk in my pyjamas across my double width driveway visible to the neighbours if they arent asleep, probably in the rain, open up my noisy double width garage door(and close it again even more noisily) at 1 am

petrolhead611 10-30-2015 04:03 AM

And don't say I should use the garage side door, because then I will be floodlit in my pyjamas, and have to clamber(no doors on this roadster) into my Vindicator, somehow get over the transmission tunnel/shift lever into the passenger seat than clamber out over the other side to get to the Porsche, only to realise that I've left the car key in the house.

There is a 1:00 AM?

Oh yea, I remember that from watching TV and movies. I have not been awake after midnight in many years.

I go to bed and stay there until the alarm goes off. At my age I go to bed by 11:00 PM. I have owned my 911 for 20 years and I still love the smells and feel of the car and have spent many 12 and 14 hour days driving across several states followed up by 8 or 10 hour day. That is way more rewarding than just sitting in your car.

I do fully understand and know what you mean.

sand_man 10-30-2015 04:51 AM

Nope!!! And also not wrong to always "look back" when you park it some place!

herr_oberst 10-30-2015 04:52 AM

Haven't done that, but I have been caught caressing the front fender - without even being aware that I was doing it.

It was a strangely satisfying experience.

Tobra 10-30-2015 05:07 AM

I don't think I understand the question

flatbutt 10-30-2015 05:09 AM

Dude, I've done something similar with my bikes.

aigel 10-30-2015 05:38 AM

Yes - wrong! You are supposed to take it for a spirited nighttime drive! Or do you drink?

dennis in se pa 10-30-2015 05:40 AM

I have done it.
