Mexico F1
Starts in one hour, (2 eastern) it doesn't happen often that we are ahead of start time, being on the east coast. Seems watching at dawn or earlier is the norm for the past 2 decades.

Seems like three times now a top tier driver has chopped down on a car inside of them, then blamed the inside driver for being there.
Neat how the track winds thru the stadium section with big crowds there cheering for their home town boy. |

Camera work sucked at the end. I wanted to see why #2 driver could get under 1 second to enable DRS and have a go for the lead.
Otherwise, not a bad race.

Really annoying for NBC to cut away to the ****ing NASCRAP race for a few minutes at the end. We missed about half of the driver interviews we would normally get.
I'd really like to be in a small room with whoever makes these stupid decisions. Only need a minute of his time.... JR |

Am I just so cynical now about F1 that the only reason I could think of for Hamfist's crew to bring him in for the second tire stop was to get him back equal to Rosberg and give Nico the win and a better chance at second place in the championship?
David and Steve had to have thought of that, but they never mentioned it. Hambone was obviously perplexed, even asking if they were going to bring Nico in too. I was under the impression that teams were once again allowed to order finishing positions. MotoGP baby! |

Yes, team orders are allowed, but I cannot imagine Hammy being very happy about them actually being used at Mercedes.

It's hard to say but they could have looked at the wear on Nico's tires and figured that Hambone was about out of usable tread. That seemed to be what they were saying on the radio, and that is nothing out of the ordinary. Most of the teams were stopping early, and more often than I thought they would. Remember, they had almost no data on tire wear and Pirelli had zero data available when they decided what compounds to bring to the race. Mercedes has often shown high wear on their rear tires. Better to be conservative, in that they wanted a 1-2. Remember Spa...
I don't think Hambone had the speed to beat Nico this weekend. Nico seemed to be able to pull away when he wanted to. JR |

You'd think with three channels to play with, NBC could have at least one that didn't have NASCRAP on it any given moment. Thank god they didn't cancel the rest of the post race show to cut over to pre-recorded ice skating.

I've wondered why F1 doesn't have a subscription service like MotoGP does.
