Driving the world's worst car - 1951 Hoffman

My Mazda is getting a couple of minor warranty items addressed. The dealer was kind enough to offer me a rental car, which turned out to be a Fiat 500L (as in Large). It is definitely my least favorite among "modern" cars that I've driven, for a variety of reasons.

My wife showed me this video to remind me that things could be worse...

Designed by committee.............

Obviously designed by a government committee! Probably the only thing this is safe for would be to use it as a strawberry planter! Wonder if Jay Leno has one?

A university classmate bought something probably even worse than that: a Gordon
One front wheel, steered, and two rear wheels, one driven. Flimsy doesnt begin to describe it.It was scary at 10 mph.

That is a funny video. I bet Jay Leno would buy it in an instant. I would really love to see Jay Leno do a piece on it for his YouTube channel.

There is only one, it was a garage home built, no government involved. Before Fiero's existed to turn them into 308's, people would turn motorcycles into "cars".

Often early prototypes don't reflect the full potential of a design. Hoffman in later years was credited with being a genius. In fact, his later years in life were spent in bitter litigation over design ideas copied by others.

Am I the only one amused by the leather window pulls and door stays?

Reminds me of the 911 guys that do this:
fs- R / ST / RSR - Leather door stays
Door panels and leather-strap for window regulator

Looks like a cross between the back half of a VW Beetle, especially with those rear quarter windows, and a giant computer mouse
