Won 4th NHRA national event (wally)
A good friend of mine raced last weekend at Las Vegas and won the super comp class, his 4th NHRA national drag race event win. They call the trophies "Wallys" after Wally Parks who helped start the NHRA.
His reaction times were impressive to say the least: 1st round .013 sec 2nd round .081 sec. (unopposed) 3rd round .020 sec. 4th round .007 sec. 4th round .030 sec. I can't even blink that fast. ![]() Recognize that guy on the left? That's my buddy's son. he didn't do as well, went up in smoke in the first round and finished with a 4.437 sec. 195.08 mph pass. Dropped him to 8th place in TFD. he was running 3.7 second passes all week before that. But at least he has seventeen Wallys and one world championship. ![]() ![]() Last edited by sammyg2; 11-03-2015 at 01:36 PM.. |

To win one Wally would be amazing, they are in the elite group of drivers when you think of all who have raced in the series.

Congrats to the winner!! To win at S/C in a national event he and his ride must have been tuned to each-others' perfection!

His car can hit 200 mph in under 2 seconds, on that particular pass he lit up the tires at around 275 mph and coasted through the lights.
At the winternationals last year he made the quickest run ever (it's been beat since then). I was standing almost between the cars behind the starting line, felt like my heart had stopped when they hit the loud pedals. ![]() Last edited by sammyg2; 11-04-2015 at 10:03 AM.. |
