Pandora Music

I have the Pandora function on my radio and my sister in law mentioned it's free. Anyone have this? Need some schooling.

She has an app on her iPhone and it's a blue tooth connection I believe?

So, what do you mean "on your radio?"

In your car, or something at home, or what?

It's simple, you turn on Pandora, you might have to create an account but you won't have to pay anything.

Search something you like, like . . . "AC/DC" or "Rolling Stones" and you will get a constant stream of stuff like ACDC and the Rolling Stones.

You won't get to choose specific songs or albums or anything. But it's "free!"

I love Pandora. The free version you get an ad every hour or so, but no big deal. You can't pick the song, but you can thumbs down songs you hate. After a few hours it learns what songs you don't like and doesn't play stuff like that. I have some stations I can listen to all day without touching and get consistently good music out of.

FWIW - I've had it for years (free version) and several things have happened. 1) On the mobile app the ads run more frequently and longer than on terrestrial radio..............rediculous. 2) The last 'update' reduced my max volume on the device as well as output on 3.5 jack by @30%

If I were to recommend pay streaming, this would not be my first 1-2-3 or 4th choice ........

Spotify for $9.95/mo is awesome. A lot more music available than Pandora, and you can listen to whatever you want anytime and save it to your playlist.

My brother and I have over 80gb of music. Haven't listened to commercial radio in years. Just wondering if was worth it it.....I hate ads and refuse to pay for a service. I have two iPods with USB ports in the car radio. Plug and play.

I will listen to AM for traffic reports when traveling.

I think I'm paying $6/mo for Pandora. For a long time, I was listening to the free version. Now that I have it in my car, I pay to keep the commercials away.

I used the free version of Pandora until I ran out of minutes it will play. I have used the pay for version for several years. I have it on at work all day. I have an old lap in my garage just to play Pandora. After a few months it will learn what you like and what you hate. Every once and a while they will test the limits and I can thumbs down or thumbs up a song.

I never listen to regular radio anymore.

I put a bluetooth "radio" in my El Camino. I can stream Pandora to it from my cell phone, or have it play my CD I ripped to MPCs from a thumb drive.

The pay for version is will worth to money in my opinion. YMMV

For whatever reason when I use Pandora on my home system (through my oppo dvd player) I don't get any adds or "are you still listening". I am non paying.

I love Pandora for background listening and introducing me to ne w music. I might try a premium service eventually, Id like one that streams high rez files.

They removed the listening limits on free accounts a while back. Paying just gets you ad free these days!

I had it going on my Amazon Fire TV the other day and noticed the same thing. Not going to complain!

in your car is the connection through your phone or do you connect another way? if thru the phone, how does the streaming affect data usage?

It's worth it, because there is a $-hit-ton of new music out there. Put in something you like on Pandora and it finds similar music and YOU WILL fall in love with some of it.

I found "She Keeps Bees" because I like Cowboy Junkies.

I found "Gaslight Anthem" because I like BRMC.

I found this band called "The Beatles" because I like "Hermans Hermits"

It is one of the built in options on our home theater receiver. Works well and I am sure we get ads but I don't notice them if it is background music. Learned of several new artists with it.

At work on my PC I think I get the are you still listening after 4 hours or so.

I used to get a similar experience at times.

It does indeed use data on you cell plan.

I had unlimited until I upgraded to the new iPhone 6S. AT&T changed the way they bill and it was WAY cheaper to drop the unlimited plan. After a month of listing to Pandora when I was in my car I still had not used a gig of data. I have a short commute of 12 minutes and lots of other driving.

For me at least, using T-mobile, my Pandora usage does count towards my data. they've also done the same for Netflix.

Before that change, Pandora would really suck the data down. Years ago, I had unlimited, but once you hit 5Gig, they capped your speed. I was listening about 7 hours a day 5 days a week at work, and found out that only gave me 2.5-3 weeks of streaming before they throttled me way back.

Do you have iTunes? I listen to iTunes Radio all the time. Basically the same thing as Pandora but I like it much better.

Two of my all-time favorites are "First Recollection" and "Lay It Down" by them. Saw them at Yoshi's in SF about a year ago, sitting on the second tier in the front. One of the best concerts I've ever heard, largely due to the terrific acoustics there. I wish I could see that show again!
