MidwayUSA?
If you need it for non shotgun use, consider solid chunks. Less surface area = less oxidation = less toxic. You can find it on CL sometimes (chunks that is, such as wheel weights spent bullets, dive weights etc. collected) G |

Thanks George. I need it to fill transmission case sections: shot in heavy nylon woven bags and then in UPS pad paks in a transmission case section for polishing.

A lot of trap and skeet clubs vacuum it up from their ranges, and many will give some of it away. Most have a contract with a recycler, but you can often score some if you ask. It's surprising how much accumulates.

Cool project.
Bulk lead price is $.72/lb, it appears shot is about twice as much, which makes sense, as someone has to process it into that. Midway has 25 lbs for $52. Shippipng cost may be interesting. I would check a local gun store / shooting range / club for pick up. Cheers, G Last edited by aigel; 11-12-2015 at 04:11 PM.. |

I knew some shooting ranges let you pick up spent bullets, but didn't know about the skeet / trap clubs. That's great, as it still will do for Shaun but probably wouldn't cut it to reload back as shot.

Thanks Jeff, I'll see what NH has to offer.
I found 50 lb for $100 on Amazon. I remember fishing as a kid we had lead split shot sinkers that you bit down on to clamp them to the line. Might look for those too but probably can't buy in bulk. The tail section came out great, the center needs more weight in it to keep it submerged in the porcelain beads. Density goes way down using nuts.

I needed a pound for a project I had going at the house. The tire shop down the street had a 5 gallon bucket filled with old wheel weights. Threw the guy a 5'r and grabbed what I needed.

I'll try the Firestone dealer too, thanks. Have to go down tomorrow to get some tires off anyway.
