Clutch Cable For 1986 Honda Prelude SI

Hi All,
Anybody have a bead on a NOS clutch cable for a 1986 Prelude SI? I put a new clutch in my daughter's car but can't find a good quality cable for the car. No local supply for me. I want a Honda product.
Thanks,
Troy

Troy - Wow, I googled a couple of Honda parts suppliers and came up empty. I suggest you join one of the Civic/Prelude web sites and ask there.

The above is from Rock Auto which is pretty good. I'd get the Beck-Arnley one if were for my daughter.

Clutch, wire 22910-SF0-671. Appears to be NLA.

I'd second the RA recommendation. Check Retailmenot for latest 5% off code.

Yea rare bird.
We tried the BA and the firewall grommets were all wrong, not even close to correct diameter.

Any chance that someone can rebuild the original cable for you? There are places that do that.

I always really liked that gen. Prelude, that was Honda's flagship back in the day.

Definitely try Rock Auto.

I had an '89 Prelude (the following generation). I was very impressed with the workmanship and quality of materials in that car. Everything was so nicely put together. It really was their premier car before the Acura brand came along.

Acuras now are pretty disappointing...

Bought this one new in 98...Great car!! Has close to 100k miles on it now and it's never been in for repairs. The Honda engine is one of the best built.

Hi All,
It was a one owner car with 150K miles on it. Amazingly, everything works; from the sunroof and windows to the AC and radio and lights.

I did some maintenance and told her to enjoy. Well, then the clutch started slipping. Found a bunch of worn out clutch pieces and parts. the original cable was thrown away and a new after market cable was put in. It will not hold adjustment. It acts like its stretching. So, still trying to find NOS but so far, no go.

I don't have any photos of the interior but its decent. It shows to be a well cared for 30 year old car.

I think I'd start looking at junk yards for a low mileage used part. It's not something that would wear from non-use. So a low mileage totaled car might just have a pretty decent clutch cable still sitting in it.

Good advice. Use car-part dot com to search for the part, you may need to put in some other part to find out who has an '86 Prelude sitting in their yard. Not sure if clutch cable is an option on site but it may be. Good luck.

Best car ever. So easy and simple to work on. Almost 40 mpg. A 25 gallon compressor easily fit in back or a small tool chest. Lightweight predictable and toss-able. I passed 4-5 cars on Hwy1 twisties between SF and SLO. Drifted Hwy17 at 90mph chasing a pcar. The thing did not hiccup once.
Would buy that exact same car new today. If only it were available.

I love those things. I have tried on several occasions to find a nice SH to DD. Sadly most of them have fallen into the hands of ricers.

Over the years I've learned to go with the pp brain trust WRT cars. So I ordered the BA cable and crossing my fingers.
Thanks all,
Troy
