Noise cancelling earbuds for intercom

Has anyone rigged up a system for street cars? Sort of like the chatterbox that DE instructors, but both ears, noise cancelling and not held in place by a helmet. Full headsets (like aviation type) would attract too much attention from police, so I'm thinking the Bose Ear Buds, but what device? iPhone w/bluetooth? don't want to have cellular call ongoing as it would eat minutes.
Thx
-C

When it comes to ear buds, noise isolating is much preferred to noise cancelling in my expereince. For noise isolating Etymotic are the leaders inho. They have been making them since before the word ipod existed

My experience is from riding motorcycles, but any audiologist can make custom molds to give you noise isolating earphones with drivers. They can provide different levels of attenuation, too. IMO custom molds are worth the additional cost over stock foam or rubber for extended periods of use.

This. I have been using Etymotic units for years.

The Etymotic's look great. The boom mic version with a chatterbox amp, or iPhone app could be exactly what I'm looking for. I'm going to give them a spin in the woodshop too.

MANY thanks!

PS, just found they have a dealer that's walking distance from my house..Sweet!

Does your cell phone plan still have minutes?

Mine's been "unlimited" for the past 3 years or so... maybe more.

Or if your grandfathered with limited minutes and unlimited data, just use facebook messenger, or similar.

Yes, we're still on a "minutes" plan. We're not heavy users / talkers so we're bare bones plan. Plus, the kind of driving we do in the Porsche can be quite rural, and there's frequently no cell service anyway.
