Who knew?
The spikes on the end of a stegosaurus’ tail are known among paleontologists as the “thagomizer” — a term coined by cartoonist Gary Larson in a 1982 Far Side drawing.

I love the Far Side.
On my first date with my now wife we did the typical first date questioning of each other. When we both admitted to be big Far Side fans we knew it was love. She had several of his books as did I. I will be sure to tell he about the thagomizer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thagomizer

Gary Larson's work is the best. I used to get the calendars every year - both the wall version and the smaller daily version - and I still use The Far Side Christmas cards!
