And for the times when you've been leveled.. Listen to this until you get moving. It is impossible to keep yourself from moving.

I am a pretty big music fan and my tastes can be pretty varied. Bill |

Van Morrison's 'Caravan" came on the radio this morning. Nothing like a little Van in the A.M. to start your day!

Timely post, Craig......have been listening to a Van Morrison/Anita Baker compilation cassette every morning this past week....lot of good music to start off the day!
Here's one that always touches my soul..... <iframe width="640" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-LX7WrHCaUA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Some great music posted here. Thanks!
I've been thinking about this thread relative to my wife and I and how we react to music. Comfort songs to her are songs that make her want to dance (which she is REALLY good at). She loves anything Santana or '60s Motown. I could watch her dance all night. I don't understand how it comforts her, but it does. I posted some songs here that evoke pleasant memories, but they just remind me of good times. They aren't really comforting. In fact, music doesn't comfort me. I find comfort in thinking. The sound of a ticking clock in a quiet room is the most comforting music to me. I feel like man-made music manipulates me, and a ticking clock in a quiet room lets me think or feel anything I want. But -- very weird -- for the past year +, I have awakened most mornings with Elton John's Daniel playing in my head. Not consciously a comfort song, but maybe unconsciously. |

Doan know nothin' 'bout no Werewolves of London. But, Beethoven's Sonata 32 in C Minor (Opus 111) is surely a comfort song:
"The work is one of the most famous compositions of the composer's "late period" and is widely performed and recorded. The pianist Robert Taub has called it "a work of unmatched drama and transcendence ... the triumph of order over chaos, of optimism over anguish…" |
