Great looking car and I'm sure it's no slouch but how many so called "Porsche Slayers" have there been over the last 50 years?

And the price of 97,000 Euro is competitive! Supposed to be available March 2015.

I'm curious. They've made it very powerful, and to me, it's a darn hot looking car. I have liked the SLS since it came out and this is pretty similar. But just being powerful, is not going to make it a Porsche killer.

Quote:
the turbos are not mounted on the outside of the cylinder banks but rather inside the V configuration. Mercedes calls this a "hot inside V" setup, and while Audi and BMW do that too, they claim theirs is the world's first sports car engine with 'hot inside V' and dry sump lubrication.
Cool, I've been out of the loop, I hadn't heard/read about the "hot inside V" setup.

The SL63 with similar performance claims can't keep the power on the ground and is a disappointment. If MB doesn't fix this problem, this one will also be a passing fad.

Tell me what it weighs and I'll tell you if it has any relevance to Porsche.

The entire bodyshell weighs 509 pounds..... it's all aluminum, with a magnesium radiator core support.

The average Porsche 991 Turbo weighs 3,600 pounds

I think the AMG GT-S will be lighter

Whoever designed the grill, deserves his pay. Plus carbon fibre mirrors.

Very beautiful car.

Oh my...look at that eyesore iPad-looking nav screen sticking up there. It looks so added-on-at-the-last-minute. Cheap and tacky looking. Seriously...I looks like some ricer Velcroed an iPad to his dash.

NOT a nicely integrated interior.

I wonder why auto manufacturers are avoiding Tesla-style electronic dashes? Its time to get on with it, already. We drove a new C-Class a couple weeks ago with that tacked on display thing in the interior. Its not even touch. Good grief.

Perhaps a Porsche-slayer, but certainly not nearly as much fun to drive...

If it does, I'll be impressed. Anything in the lower 3000s these days is really light. My mostly aluminum Evo weighed ~3500 lbs., I think.

The shape of the rear reminds me of the grand old Toyota 2000 GT, but with more elongated rear lamps.

It's a "Sweet" looking vehicle but it will come and go like so many others.

The Honda NSX was a cool car. I drove one that belonged to a friend of mine on several occasions. Great car and it even had that lovingly hand built quality.
It was often written that they were under powered but from my point of view they were just about spot on.

This will be the hot coup for a while and then just disappear when MB can't sell enough of them.

That's a great looking car. I have a C63 AMG right now, it's the most grin inducing car that I've owned in a LONG time. The factory exhaust note sounds like an A-10 airstrike, just awesome.

Looks great from the front, but also looks like they ran out of time designing the rear.
