baseball memorabilia
A guy that works for me told me today a friend of his has an old autographed photo of Babe Ruth and another of Babe and Lou Gerigh (spl?) I think. I'm not much on baseball and haven't a clue. anyone know how much something like this is worth, providing it's authentic? I haven't seen them yet. He was offered $4000 for one photo and wanted to know more before he considered selling. any help would be appreciated

I'm not sure about those... probably a couple thousand each.
A friend of mine has Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams rookie cards (kind of... baseball cards started the year after Williams' roookie year, so this is technically his rookie card). Each has been appraised at $4000+.... collectors might pay $6000 each.

Thanks, I'll relay that to him. Maybe I'll bring him to a dealer and get an estimate in our travels to bigger towns. He was just curious. I was thinking maybe they were worth quite a bit if someone from this little town offered that much.

FYI...
back in the 80's when the baseball card "craz" was IN. I discovered from several "inside sources" that many collectable cards were being reprinted ( legally) from the originators. This, back door printing, led to the devaluation of many collectable cards.
Remember.. there is NO law for printing MORE of an already collectable card. |
