Bone Tomahawk

Perhaps one most disturbing films I have seen in ....ever. With any horror flick I rationalize that while many scenes are silly, the possibility of certain things are very remote if not impossible. I kept telling myself that there is no way people would do this, but sadly I thought of all the horrible things people have done and figured that it was possible and most likely probable in a certain setting.

If you have a strong stomach, try this film. Keep in mind, there will be scenes that will not be able to be purged and you will find yourself thinking about them.

My takeaway was that at least in my world stuff like this doesn't happen...yet.

Interest peaked

Justin@Athens 12-13-2015 05:57 PM

I just watched the trailer...looks intense

M.D. Holloway 12-13-2015 06:31 PM

It is the harshest thing imaginable

seanratpel 12-28-2015 07:17 AM

I loved that pic. sorta comedy at the beginning, great period language etc then it gets hellish.

vash 12-28-2015 10:21 AM

Ticket for one please.

no way i get my wife to see that. the "movie payback" i would owe her, (think of the worst chick flick like , THE DANISH GIRL) wouldnt be worth it. the trailer looks crazy!

sc_rufctr 12-28-2015 05:46 PM

I just watched the trailer. It looks completely ridiculous but considering human history not that far fetched IMO.

I'm not sure I want to see it though. I tend to stay away from such movies.

M.D. Holloway 12-28-2015 05:51 PM

I haven't gotten certain images out of my head and its been weeks....

I'm good, the real world is effed up enough.

I will subscribe to the "what has been seen cannot be unseen" mantra, and pass on this one! Can I still keep my man card?

sc_rufctr 04-19-2017 05:32 AM

I saw it tonight on regular TV. They must have cut most of the gore out although it was still brutal. A very well made movie.
The pregnant women had sticks buried in their eye sockets & amputated limbs. Looked like they served only one purpose.

Was it far fetched? Actually no. We as a species have a brutal history. We can only guess what early man got up to.

This isn't the link that I saw a few months back, but I think it has several of the same movies listed.

Same here... got enough bad stuff bouncing around my noggin... trying to add good stuff at this point in my life.

Ya know like the fast and furious

GG Allin 04-19-2017 07:02 AM

2015? is it on Netflix?

GH85Carrera 04-19-2017 07:05 AM

I did see it. It was on HBO or maybe Amazon movies. I did not rent it.

It is a weird and strange movie. For sure violent, especially the tribe of whatever those "people" were. I often wonder what sort twisted mind dreams those plots up.

For sure I have seen worse movies.

vash 04-19-2017 07:10 AM

the movie was damn disturbing.

i kinda liked it, altho it may have ruined a night or two of decent sleep.

DanielDudley 04-19-2017 01:23 PM

Similar to The 13th Warrior, just not as cool. It kinda shows a mans real place in society after the onion gets peeled.

I hear ice picks can help!

HardDrive 04-19-2017 05:43 PM

Why watch something like that? The world is scary enough.

stevej37 04-19-2017 06:27 PM

Saw it last night on Amazon. Some parts are real gory...but overall worth seeing. Kurt Russell did a good job as the Sheriff.

MattKellett 04-19-2017 06:36 PM

My wife bought this movie for me as we enjoy a good western, it was a real wtf moment when it took a turn for the worse.

I imagine if we had a camera on us, our mouths would have been open in shock!

In the ear or the eyeball ? It makes a difference.

stevej37 04-20-2017 04:52 AM

Another movie about Troglodytes...except they are vegetarians, as opposed to the ones in Bone Tomahawk!
It's also playing on Amazon.

As I mentioned earlier, it for sure is a gory movie. Maybe the up close and personal nature is why some of you were more freaked by it. But consider the wholesale killing in any of the Terminator movies or Rambo and it is not that violent.

I guess killing someone with a gun is different than cutting them up.

When it was done it was not a movie I thought I will see that one again! I have seen Blazing Saddles dozens of times and still love it. Bone Tomahawk is a one and done for me. I will watch Blazing Saddles again.

McLovin 04-20-2017 09:09 AM

I didn't find it that gory.

Really, for a "horror" movie I thought it was the opposite. There's maybe 60 seconds of gore out of a 2 hour movie. Not a ton of killings and most are done quickly. Instead of being a gory horror movie, IMO it's more of a suspense movie. Long periods of buildup where no "action" is happening.

*SPOILER ALERT*

All in all I thought it was an ok movie. Some of the acting and script, esp. in the beginning, wasn't the greatest. And you couldn't make a movie any more predictable or cliche.

- The advance group gets captured.
- The guy left behind for dead comes back to save them.
- The sheriff dies a heroic death while saving the town.
- Husband and wife are reunited and live happily ever after.

But, oddly, I found the general *lack* of violence in the movie to be it's greatest asset. It's a "slow build" kind of movie that I generally like.

Arthropraxis 04-20-2017 03:27 PM

I liked it, didn't think it was disturbing. Hostel, was disturbing for me.

vash 04-21-2017 07:00 AM

the most troubling movie (for me) was that heroin flick with jennifer connoly..

i had to turn it off..and it wasnt even scary.

GG Allin 04-21-2017 07:33 AM

Watched it last night. Was expecting it to be much worse based on this thread and other reviews I read. Pretty good move though.

Pulled off a double last night, watched Room too, another good one.

widgeon13 05-08-2017 02:19 PM

Terrible movie!
